For us, our children must be offered as many experiences as possible to ensure that they are well equipped to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving society.

John Keble is a unique school. We are a Church of England school with a strong Christian ethos, committed to ensuring that each student is known as an individual, develops the knowledge, skills, and personal qualities to lead successful and fulfilling lives, and is empowered to do so.

As a community, we want to be the very best school for our students, one which ensures that each student experiences a challenging learning journey.

We work together to create a reflective, creative and vibrant atmosphere in which all our students may thrive. Our community is based on strong relationships that are built, maintained, and celebrated. This also means that when conflicts arise, differences are discussed openly and relationships are repaired.

The school was founded over 100 years ago by the Sisters of the Church to provide local children with a good education based on Christian principles.

We seek to perpetuate the Sisters’ vision by applying these founding principles daily and by ensuring that the children know they are loved, unique and special.

John Keble School prides itself on its wide, rich curriculum. Students receive high-quality teaching which meets their needs. The curriculum is engaging, relevant, stimulating, and inspiring. We encourage independent learning and self-reflection to prepare our students for a future we cannot see, supporting them as they learn to problem-solve, think and develop confidence in their unique abilities.

Music, PE, and Spanish are taught by specialist teachers, ensuring high-quality opportunities for all. Alongside the variety of curriculum subjects, there is a wide choice of after-school clubs that interest students. These have a high take up and they are extremely popular.

Our academic results are good. At the end of Year 6 (Key Stage 2) in 2017, 67% of children reached the Nationally Expected Standard in reading, writing, and maths. At John Keble School, we feel a deep responsibility to nurture and develop core British values that can guide our lives and be shared and expressed by everyone – regardless of faith or belief.

These guide our school community, helping to form character, spiritual awareness, and self-esteem and are firmly based on the commandment of Jesus to ‘love your neighbor,’ and to treat others as we would expect to be treated. John Keble School places great emphasis on developing children who value and respect themselves and others, who love learning, and have a deep sense of fairness and social justice.

As a school community, we seek to promote reflection about children’s own beliefs and faith and to encourage their interest in and respect of other religions and faiths. As a Church of England school, we aim to anchor these values in the Christian faith through our collective worship and whole school ethos.
