At our academy, we place a high priority on children as individuals in God’s world. As part of our school’s distinctive Christian ethos, we encourage each pupil to live out the academy’s values of respect, responsibility, hopefulness, friendship, truthfulness, and perseverance. We are proud of the very strong links we have with the Church of England and the Methodist Church – both of whom regularly lead collective worship.
We are proud of our academy values. The children and staff were involved in their selection. We encourage all members of our academy community to use them. Each term we have a particular focus on one of our values, exploring it through assemblies and house groups.
In 2011, the government defined British Values as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs. Here at Hawkesley Church Primary Academy, we promote these values through the curriculum and enrichment activities as well as through our academy values We are respectful, responsible, hopeful, friendly, truthful and we persevere.
The academy’s values and its emphasis on good relationships, respect for the law, and equality of opportunity foster pupils’ understanding of British values and successfully prepare them for life in modern Britain.
Motivated by our Christian faith, we welcome and nurture everyone to believe, achieve and succeed. We celebrate the diversity of everyone at our academy, recognizing and valuing the contribution made by all individuals. Through a safe, creative, and stimulating environment, and the constant pursuit of high standards, children and staff flourish on the journey towards reaching their full potential.
At Hawkesley Church Primary Academy we follow the National Curriculum but place greater emphasis and time on the core areas of English and Mathematics. We teach Science, Computing, Physical Education, and Religious Education as discrete subjects. Each term our curriculum theme is linked to one of our school values.
