Hatch End High School is a high-performing, happy, and thriving comprehensive school in the London Borough of Harrow. The school has a rich history of tradition but actively embraces the very best of new technologies and innovative practices. We have a high profile in the community, supporting other schools and play a lead role in training the next generation of teachers.

We are conveniently situated in the northwest of the borough with easy access to Central Harrow as well as Hertfordshire, Brent, Hillingdon, and Barnet.

We are very proud to say that our students consistently make outstanding progress and we are consistently in the highest performing schools nationally for both GCSE and A-Level performance. However, this academic excellence is paralleled by our equal commitment to developing the personality, talents, and abilities of all our students. Our enrichment program is second to none. We care about our young people as individuals which mean always ensuring a careful balance between challenge and support.

The role of the Governing Body is to help the School to provide the best possible education for its students by:

• Setting the school's vision and strategic aims and agreeing on plans and policies, making the best use of available resources.
• Monitoring and evaluating performance and acting as a 'critical friend' to the school.
• Ensuring the school is accountable to the students and parents it serves and to its local community.

We believe that successful schools do not exist in a vacuum but rather look outwards to work alongside, other schools both primary and secondary in the local Harrow area and beyond.

To ensure our young people flourish, the partnerships that we develop on behalf of our students are integral to our success. Our partnerships are far-reaching as we continue to play an important part in our local community and reaching out into the wider world with national, international, and global organizations. These strong collaborative partnerships enrich our curriculum offer and provide students with unique opportunities, which support and enhance their learning including trips, motivational speakers, visits, and mentoring. Above all, the partnership activities broaden our students’ horizons, taking their learning beyond the classroom and providing a unique insight.

We have actively developed strong partnerships with some very prestigious institutions, including Cambridge University, UCL, Paediatric Department at Northwick Park Hospital and the British Paediatric Association, Teach First, Chicken Shed Inclusive Theatre Company, and Cern, Switzerland.

We believe that an outstanding school never stands still and strives at all times to excel in every area of its performance for the benefit of all our young people and other stakeholders.

From regular, robust, and honest self-evaluation, we have devised together with the following key priorities below which will govern our short and medium-term planning and will underpin our three-year strategic planning through to 2019/20, ensuring we are a high performing, inclusive and oversubscribed school of choice for the local community.

All four areas of our improvement planning are underpinned by our four core values in We CARE concerning our fundamental appreciation of the importance of Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural education and preparing our students to be active citizens in a local, national and global environment.

We recognize that everyone needs to be personally challenged throughout their school life and we place great emphasis on tracking individual student progress with half-termly assessments. In addition to the parents’ evenings, we also offer academic monitoring interviews with students and parents to talk through continued strategies for improvement.

For the gifted and/or talented child, a program of extension and enrichment opportunities takes place to challenge and stretch in new and imaginative ways. In the classroom, all lessons are differentiated to enable high performers to achieve their very best. Our Raising Aspirations program complements and energizes our ‘Ambition’ value by providing high-quality enrichment activities for all students.

When a student is identified as having a particular learning need, our large and very experienced Special Educational Needs team develops a wide variety of support and interventions to support the individual and allow them to have equal access to the curriculum.
