Hafs Academy is an educational trust founded by some of the country’s leading educators, scholars, and academics, to push forward the frontiers of Muslim schooling in the UK.
At Hafs we believe that the tarbiyah (development) of a child in a good environment is of utmost priority. Children are innocent and so it is during these days of innocence that tarbiyah is most effective. Hafs Academy provides an exceptional standard of education, with numerous extra-curricular activities and strong pastoral care. Hafs Academy is proud to be committed to its outreach work for community cohesion. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) strived for such causes his entire life, and among his teachings on this are the words:
“All creatures are the household of God the most beloved of creation to God is the one who is most caring towards His household.”
Hafs Academy is not just an Islamic faith school but a spiritual, social, community, and educational hub. At Hafs Academy we view engagement with the local and wider community as vitally important, regardless of race, religion, or gender.
Within school, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and advise how to exercise these safely, for example through our E-Safety and SMSC lessons. Whether it be through choice of challenge, how they record works, selection of lunches, or participation in our extra-curricular clubs - pupils are given the freedom to make choices.
Part of our school ethos and behavior policy has revolved around Core Values such as ‘Respect’, and pupils have been part of discussions and assemblies related to what this means and how it is shown.
The curriculum is all the planned activities that we organize to promote learning and personal growth and development. Hafs Academy aims to provide our pupils with an education that compares with the best from the National Curriculum together with excellent Tarbiyyah in Islam. Additionally, we aim to provide a range of extra-curricular activities that the school organizes to enrich the experience of the children. It also includes the 'hidden curriculum, or what the children learn from the way they are treated and expected to behave. We aim to teach children how to grow into positive, responsible people, who can work and co-operate with others while developing knowledge and skills so that they achieve their true potential.
The curriculum is how the school achieves its objective of educating children in the knowledge, skills, and understanding that they need to lead fulfilling lives. We value how all children are unique, and our curriculum promotes respect for the views of each child, as well as for people of all cultures. We value the spiritual and moral development of each person, as well as their intellectual and physical growth. We value the importance of each person in our community. We organize our curriculum so that we promote cooperation and understanding between all members of our community. We value the rights enjoyed by each person in our society. We respect each child in our school for who they are, and we treat them with fairness and honesty. We aim to enable each person to be successful, and we provide equal opportunities for all the children in our school.
