Granard Primary School opened in 1953 and was built on the site of Granard House, the home of the Taylor Family, from which the school takes its name. The school’s spacious grounds are full of established trees that were part of the Granard Estate and are dominated by the magnificent 300-year-old Cedar tree, which is the school’s emblem. The school provides education for pupils within the age ranges of 3 – 11 years (Early Years to Year 6). We are three form entry in Reception and Key Stage 1 and two forms throughout the rest of the school. We have a wonderful community spirit that celebrates our vibrant and diverse multi-cultural community.

Granard Primary School is proud to be partnered with Wandsworth Primary Schools' Consortium, providing high-quality school-based teacher training in Wandsworth schools.

The aims of the curriculum are to:

• Provide a broad and balanced creative curriculum to ensure children develop a range of knowledge, skills, and understanding.
• Enable children to develop the skills and attributes needed to be successful learners.
• Promote high standards in reading, writing, and maths.
• Encourage creative thinking and problem solving through opportunities to work scientifically and link this way of thinking with Computer Science and the Arts.
• Provide opportunities for speaking and listening activities such as debates and discussions as well as risk-taking and inquiry so children actively take responsibility for their learning and development.
• Encourage children to be self-reflective about themselves and their work.
• Provide stimulating, engaging lessons, which spark children’s interest in learning and develop a love of learning.
• Promote the school values so that children develop empathy for others and are encouraged to develop spiritually and morally.
• Provide opportunities to practice personal and social skills through working independently and collaboratively.
• Expect the best possible attainment and progress for all pupils.

At Granard Primary School we believe the assessment is fundamental to being able to extend and challenge children’s learning so that they can fulfill their potential. It informs planning and provides learning focus in lessons, driving knowledge, skills, and understanding. The assessment provides evidence as to the effectiveness of teaching and learning, informing the school of the impact of practice by measuring pupil progress and attainment. We believe that School Development should be evidence-based. As such, assessment underpins it.
