Drew is a fully inclusive Community Primary school with a Nursery, providing education for pupils aged from 3 to 11. The School is housed in a new purpose-built two-story building with a lift, having moved from its original three-story Victorian building in April 2003. Drew Primary School has a long history, having opened in its original building in 1895.
The ground floor contains the Nursery and Reception classes, Library and Computer Suite, the hall (used for PE, assemblies, and school meals) as well as the School Office and Headteacher’s office. The first floor contains the Infant and Junior classrooms, the Restart and Learning Mentor rooms, and the Learning Support room.
The school grounds include the main playground and a separate outdoor area for the Nursery and Reception classes.
We are a school that likes to celebrate success at every level. We have high expectations for all and are driven by enthusiasm and a common desire to achieve.

Recent education and health white papers recognize how schools can help children to become happier, healthier, and more ready to learn and achieve their full potential. As a nationally recognized Healthy School, we promote physical and emotional health by providing accessible and relevant information. We equip pupils and staff with the understanding, skills, and attitudes to make informed decisions about their health. Pupils flourish in a positive environment and are given a voice to influence whole-school decisions.
We understand the importance of investing in health to help pupils do their best, raise levels of achievement, improve standards and develop policies and practices to promote health.
We adopt a whole-school approach, involving the whole-school community, parents/carers, governors, staff, and pupils in improving children’s health.
At Drew Primary we are committed to promoting the safety and welfare of all our pupils, staff, and visitors. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and as a parent, carer, family member, or neighbor, you may have concerns about the welfare of a child or young person. As a school, we have a legal responsibility to inform Social Care of any child protection concerns relating to children who attend our settings. In the majority of cases a member of staff will contact you to discuss this and if necessary any subsequent referral to social care. Please be aware you may not be contacted in advance of a referral if it is felt this could place a child at risk of ‘significant harm.’
