Downe Primary School

Downe Primary School is situated near the center of Downe Village in High Elms Road. The original school building dates from 1906 with a large modern extension added in 1973. In Summer 2004 a new modular classroom was added that further increased the classroom accommodation. We now have 4 classrooms with a dedicated space for the reception children, complete with an outdoor learning space. Also, we have a support room which is used for group work. We also have a school hall, library, computer area, and music room.

We are a small school with a caring family atmosphere. We have high expectations which we work hard together to achieve. Everyone in our school and community is important to us. We aim to achieve the highest possible attainment and to develop the full potential of every child in all areas – Spiritual, Moral, Cultural, Mental, and Physical.

We provide consistently good teaching which is both stimulating and challenging this motivates our children to be engaged, excited, and successful learners. We provide a broad curriculum and many extra curriculum events and activities.
