At Deansbrook Junior School we believe that children should be encouraged to become lifelong learners who are prepared to go out into the world without any fear of the unknown, with the confidence to deal with successes and failures, and know-how to learn from them.

At Deansbrook Junior School we believe that all children should have access to a broad and balanced curriculum. Planning of the curriculum will be flexible to meet pupils’ differentiating needs and to ensure progression, whatever a pupil’s prior attainment.

We are an innovative and creative school, constantly seeking inspirational ways to engage and excite children. The quality of our school grounds and classrooms are exceptional and our high standards of achievement reflect this. Our children, their parents, and their teachers have a real voice in the school. All our stakeholders’ views are taken seriously and acted upon. We work together to ensure children leave school with confidence and pride.

Deansbrook Junior School is committed to providing all its pupils access to a broad, balanced and relevant education. As part of the school’s work to ensure that all children receive their full entitlement, Deansbrook aims to prevent negative outcomes and enable pupils with special educational needs (SEN) to reach their full potential by raising their aspirations and the expectations for all, to be included fully within the school’s community, to have access to a creative curriculum that provides a focus on outcomes and to make a successful transition towards adulthood.

Our school works hard to ensure that all the new children and their families that join us are provided with supportive admission and induction program. On a child's first day, a member of our staff will welcome both them and their parents into our school. Within the first two weeks of a child joining us, staff will have assessed their learning needs including, where appropriate, the child's proficiency in English.

At Deansbrook we like to think everyone may have a gift or talent and aim to nurture these throughout the school. All children are given every opportunity to develop their potential and staff have high expectations. Children are routinely provided with challenges to extend their learning within the classroom and there are often other opportunities in a range of curriculum areas to extend skills and nurture particular talent. Including opportunities of performing in assemblies, work with artists and authors in residence and professional bodies e.g. Saracens. Children may also attend afterschool clubs and masterclasses at Deansbrook and local secondary schools.

We aim to provide your child with a safe and healthy learning environment to enable them to grow and develop. Our Welfare Assistant and is there to help any child in need of assistance during the school day. There is a Welfare room with first aid facilities to deal with minor injuries. They also assist with monitoring absences and makes note of children's visits to the Welfare room. There are additional staff members who are trained first aiders who are on duty at all times and are based in classrooms and the playground during break-times.
