Dafen Primary School

Dafen Primary School is a Community Primary School which caters to pupils between the ages of three and eleven years old. The school is located in the village of Dafen.

At Dafen School we aim to help pupils to:

• Be part of a happy, stable, and caring environment, which provides the opportunity for every child to realize his or her full potential in all areas of the curriculum.
• Develop an enquiring mind.
• Develop the ability to question and discuss rationally.
• Apply himself/herself creatively to tasks.
• Develop physical skills.
• To acquire the knowledge, understanding, and skills that are relevant to the National Curriculum, and life in a rapidly changing world.
• Use language and numbers effectively.
• To appreciate the religious dimensions of life, and to help pupils understand what it means to take religion seriously. In our culture, the greatest concentration will be on Christianity, but there will also be opportunities to offer insights into other religions, and develop respect for those who belong to them.
• Understand the world in which they live and the interdependence of individuals, groups, and nations.
• Appreciate human achievements and aspirations.

This prospectus aims to inform parents about Dafen School and the way we work. We want your child to be happy and successful at school and for this to happen there must be a good relationship between school and home.

We intend to make you feel welcome in our school because it will be a very important place in your child’s life for the next few years. It is important that your child finds fulfillment, happiness, and stimulation at Dafen School and that your association with our school is an equally enriching and rewarding one. This booklet is an introduction to life at Dafen School, it shows how children learn and suggests ways in which you, the parents can help. It is not however meant to take the place of personal contact with the school and staff. Indeed, opportunities will be provided for you to become familiar with the life of the school.
