In a calm, caring and secure environment Crook Log Primary School endeavors to provide children with the confidence and skills to achieve a high standard in all areas of school life. Through sound teaching and in close partnership with parents we believe that all pupils will leave Crook Log School with a continued sense of ambition, independence, and a thirst for learning.

This can be developed by:

• encouraging them to co-operate and be actively involved in their learning so that they may eventually achieve autonomy
• teaching them the skills to learn and become independent and self-reliant helping them to acquire knowledge which will encourage an understanding of the world and its people, and help them adapt to changes
• fostering personal and moral values, such as respecting others, learning tolerance, self-discipline, and concern for others
• having high but realistic expectations for each child about age, aptitude, and ability
• valuing their work by displaying it, sharing it with others, praising their efforts, and ensuring a sense of worth and achievement.

We want children to be able to aspire to great heights, unafraid to tackle new challenges as they become citizens of the future. We want our pupils to positively believe in a bright future.

Our aim at Crook Log is to develop your child to their full potential. Our work here allows for all children to develop their academic, social and independent skills, supporting them to build confidence, self-reliance and make informed decisions and choices as they grow. We want children to enjoy school and love learning, making it a lifelong habit.

The school is fully committed to parental involvement. It is so important that we support one another. We will keep you regularly informed of your child’s progress and activities and events within the school and the local community.

Our desire here is to ensure that as your children progress through school they are being positively prepared for life as citizens of the future.

The community of Crook Log has a special ‘feel’ about it and many visitors comment on the positive ethos and friendly atmosphere they encounter as they come through our doors, coupled with the exciting and creative learning environment for all, found wherever they look.

The school has a lovely setting with a large sports field and two large playgrounds with play markings. We are currently undertaking an exciting expansion which will result in a brand new extension to our existing building. The Foundation Stage has an excellent outdoor play area.

We have excellent ICT facilities. Each class is equipped with an interactive whiteboard with laptops and pads used to enhance the children’s learning. Each classroom has its computer.

The school has a very active School Council, with children from all years sharing ideas during regular meetings. The School Council contribute ideas and influence decisions on many topics.

We offer a broad curriculum and children learn in a happy and courteous atmosphere. Regular newsletters are sent home to update parents on events in school.

The year five children have an opportunity to visit Kingswood Activity Centre on the Isle of White for School Journey week and year six children visit France.
