School Aims :

• To maintain and develop partnerships between the home, school, and the community.

The School Language Policy follows the Authority's Language policy for transitional schools. This means that Welsh is used as the main medium within the school. Children in the Foundation phase are taught through the medium of Welsh. This issue is dealt with sensitively and sensibly in the case of non-Welsh-speaking children. Their mother tongue will be used when appropriate to facilitate the building of a firm, successful relationship between child and teacher. Parents of children of all ages are expected to support this policy. It is essential to the children that harmony exists between the school and the home on this most important issue. English as a subject is introduced in Key Stage 2. Some subjects are taught through the medium of English in Key stage 2 (please ask the Headteacher for the list).

The School organization is based around chronologically arranged, mixed ability groups within each class. The school teaches the ‘National Curriculum’. A copy can be downloaded from the W.A.G website. Some subjects, where suitable, are taught through a theme. A specialist teacher will teach some subjects, e.g. Welsh. Many aspects are taught in focus groups, e.g. literacy support. Changing circumstances, both financial and the number of pupils on roll, may compel a change to class structures – at short notice. At any given time any class may contain children from more than one age group. The headteacher will inform parents of any changes.
