Bank View is an outstanding special school for pupils with autism and complex learning difficulties aged 4-19. To gain a place in Bank View it must be named on a student's education, health, and care plan.
Our school is a brand new building with state-of-the-art facilities situated in Long Lane, Aintree.
Bank View is a happy, friendly, safe, and encouraging place where everyone feels welcome and valued. All students develop socially, emotionally, academically, and physically our aim is for students to achieve their full potential in all aspects of their life.
We set high expectations of our pupils and support them to build resilience and use their talents and strengths to ensure success when they leave us.
Bank View School moved to its current site in September 2015. It is a purpose-built secondary school for 174 pupils with complex learning difficulties. All our students have an education, health, and care plan. The majority of our students have a moderate learning difficulty plus an additional need, for example, ASD or ADHD.
In January 2017 we opened Bank View Croxteth Primary School to provide 8 primary assessment places.
From September 2017 we were excited to welcome our first two primary classes. One based at Bank View and the other at Croxteth.
The curriculum at Bank View is based on flexible, child-centered learning. We follow the National Curriculum which is adapted to meet the needs of our students. The curriculum is broad and balanced offering breadth as well as depth.
In Key Stage 3, we try to develop students' understanding and independent learning skills to build the foundations for exam courses in Key Stage 4.
Students who need extra support with literacy, numeracy, and or behavior will be supported in a variety of ways from 1:1 support through in each, small group support within the classroom, IEP’s, IBP’s, and mentor support.
Pupils who need challenge are also catered for with our newly established gifted and talented groups to offer extension and development for those students who need it.
In Key Stage 4 students follow a range of exam courses ranging from entry levels to Level 1 or GCSE according to ability and need. We are currently updating our range of qualifications to include level 2.
As part of the KS4/5 curriculum, students have a college link to experience a range of vocational tasters in a college setting.
Functional Skills are taught in English, Maths, and ICT throughout the school from year 7 onwards with students taking assessments that cover the range of levels from Entry level 1 – level 1 (level 2 if appropriate).
We are excited about our curriculum at Bank View and are continually updating and improving to give our students the best possible educational experience.
Bank View High School values the diverse ethnic backgrounds of all our pupils and their families and undertakes a variety of events and lessons to celebrate these. This approach is enriching for all parties as it teaches respect and tolerance for differences in both the school community and the wider world.
Our assemblies promote aspects of British life and values – success, courage, endeavor, national and provincial events, tolerance, fair play, and remembrance.
