At Anson, we believe that children should look forward to coming to school and go home having enjoyed their day. We believe in teamwork, in pulling together, and in recognizing and valuing each individual. We are respectful of people from different backgrounds and aim to involve families from all our communities. We believe in the inclusion of every child and will ensure that we support all our children to achieve and succeed. We believe in showing children how to use their voices confidently in the world. We strive for excellence every day so that every child can fulfill their potential.
At Anson Primary School we aim to ensure that all children have a successful, enjoyable, and rewarding time. We are committed to giving the children every opportunity to develop into independent, resourceful, and caring individuals. Education is a partnership between school and home and we see your cooperation and support as vital in ensuring that the children gain the maximum benefit from their time in Anson.
Children are continually challenged to attain higher standards so expectations must be high, both academically and personally.
Our success both within the school and the wider community is recognized through the various awards that we have gained, the achievements of the children, and the links that we have throughout the country and abroad. Our primary objective is to educate your child, with breadth and balance, creativity, and confidence. We are pleased that our Ofsted Report described Anson as being like a village school in the United Nations of Brent’, a true reflection of our community.
Anson supports and encourages everyone's learning, wellbeing and happiness and is a great place to live and learn.
We are delighted and proud to be a recognized WE School and part of the WE Movement in the UK. Over the past 4 years, we have worked with our children to help them make an impact in the local community and globally. This has included events at school to raise the profile of hunger, cyberbullying, and identity as well as organizing events for the community.
The children at Anson worked as a community to gather food for our local Food Bank in Brent. The response was overwhelming, but a very powerful way to show how simple it can be to make a difference in your local community.
Individual children, who have followed the school rules and stayed on gold, are rewarded at the end of each term with a prize-giving assembly. This is always a highlight of the term as we celebrate everyone who has made our school a happy, successful, hardworking, and caring place to be.
Learning is a continual process by which we gain knowledge and skills engagingly and creatively within a challenging, yet secure, environment. We encourage these skills to be applied in real contexts at school and home. Learning at Anson is about creating meaning from experience. Our learning experiences will include those in our local area, those celebrating our British values, and those who celebrate and reach a global education audience.
The National Curriculum will be taught with these learning behaviors at the heart of our lesson planning. We will look to develop every child as a life-long learner and support parents to develop these skills beyond the school day.
The curriculum at Anson Primary School gives the children the chance to explore our world innovatively and creatively. We have developed the Abc (Anson Big Curriculum) creating units of work that are relevant to the children, engaging, interactive, challenging, and utilize the skills they need to be 21st-century learners while adhering to national expectations and the new 2014 National Curriculum.
At the heart of each unit of work are opportunities for the children to build on their skills in reading, writing, maths, and speaking, and listening. Therefore, the children may be learning about natural disasters, with a strong emphasis on the geographical and scientific, but they will be using reading and writing skills to research, explain, inform and describe, while using their mathematics to calculate, predict and experiment.
We are very proud of the way the children approach their learning. Their enthusiasm and desire to learn, along with their focus in sessions, means that we can push the boundaries in innovative ways. Work is shared through the website, social media, and radio station. The augmented reality work we have undertaken has had an impact on the whole school community as well as a global audience.
