Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design seeks to produce graduates who can combine design capability with manufacturing dexterity to create products that are functional and aesthetically appealing. It also equips the students with the necessary management and marketing tools to promote these products in markets around the world. PIFD endeavors to create a new generation of creative designers and highly skilled entrepreneurs to cater to the demand of the new millennium.
PIFD is one of the leading Institutes imparting Fashion and Design education in Pakistan. PIFD presently comprises of four Faculties/ Schools and seven Departments Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing & Merchandising, Textile Design, Gems & Jewellery Design, Leather Accessories & Footwear, Furniture Design & Manufacture, and Ceramic & Glass Design. These departments are currently offering 4-year bachelor's degree programs, with plans to start a Masters's program shortly.
PIFD is the premier institute that over two decades ago took the initiative to open a Fashion Design school in Pakistan. Over the years with hard work, determination, and a clear vision, the school, Pakistan School of Fashion Design (PSFD), transcended into Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD) a degree-awarding Institute which is chartered by the Government of Pakistan.
Today PIFD is opening doors to career opportunities that were not available in Pakistan before, thus paving paths for cultural and industrial development in the country. With quality education under the supervision of qualified faculty, foreign consultants, and the industry linkages, our graduates are highly preferred in the job market, with up to 100% employment rate.
PIFD encourages diversity in student enrollments, thus as per the set quota seats are allocated to students from all over Pakistan. Over the years there has been an increase in several international students.
The Institute strives to meet new challenges, expand itself in the field of research, build international linkages, and form international inter-university collaborations. Students and faculty at PIFD have the opportunity to attend international training and workshops. They visit prestigious institutes like Fashion Institute of Technology New York, USA, University College of Boras, Sweden, Mod’Spe Paris, France, and Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Paris, France. PIFD is in collaboration with Rhode Island School of Design for the training of faculty under the sponsorship of USAID. The growth of PIFD and its present stature is due to the support of the Government and the Senate members, and its strong base is because of its faculty, staff, and student body. With the support, PIFD envisions to pursue new endeavors, starting with the opening of a Research Cell at the Institute and beginning of post-graduate degree programs.
PIFD aims to be a specialist design institute, catering to the demands of the industry. Its goal is to provide a comprehensive design education that focuses on the relationship between the designed product and the consumer. It aims to be the platform from which individuals can pursue challenging career options in the field of design.
