Welcome to Kohat University of Science & Technology (KUST). Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) is one of the most important seats of higher learning in the south region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province. Since its inception, KUST is making a tremendous contribution to the education system of Kohat and surrounding districts. The University strives to achieve academic excellence through continuous improvement of its research and teaching by providing faculty and students with an environment conducive for the creation, dissemination, and assimilation of knowledge. At KUST, we place great emphasis on optimal usage of the available resources without compromising on quality. Our programs and activities are not only structured to address the socio-economic needs of the region but also have a modern orientation so that our graduates and faculty can compete internationally.
Our focus is on excellence in teaching, high-quality research, and community service. Some of our faculty members have their research work published in international journals of high class. Given the scarce resources and opportunities for research in young universities, the achievements of our faculty are true of paramount significance to us: we are proud of them. The number of Ph.D. levels is growing at KUST. Several young faculty members are pursuing their Ph.D. studies in Pakistan and abroad in the institutions of international repute. Soon most of them will resume their responsibilities in KUST: we are looking forward to their rejoining us. Their presence will strengthen us further.
Our students come from diverse backgrounds. In addition to pursuing their studies, they also reach out to the community and involve themselves in co-curricular programs. We are passing through very difficult socio-political times that require serious academic pursuits, objective research, and fair analyses to achieve the social equity that defines progress. Our goal is to help our students become academically efficient socially responsible and intellectually productive citizens of the country and the world. We encourage our students to question things we teach them to have faith in themselves we urge them to dream big and we inculcate in them the spirit to live and let live. We hope to prepare them for the challenges of today and tomorrow. We are aware of how big a task we entrust them, but we would not do that if we had any doubt about their talent and potential. They are such bright young people.
Kohat the southern city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is only an hour's drive from Peshawar and a couple of hours drive from the country's capital Islamabad. It is at an altitude of 1607 feet. Cradled in the lap of mountains and famous as 'City of Streams', it has many places that are flocked by people. Among these, is the well-known University of Kohat, a place, where imparting education is not considered just a duty, but as a commitment towards the advancement of society. the vision and a single-minded mission of the University make it a name to reckon with.
Kohat University of Science & Technology holds examinations, grants degrees, imparts knowledge, and confers diverse academic distinctions on persons who pursue approved courses of study at the University or the constituent colleges/institutions approved for the purpose and also for those who appear as external/private candidates. The University also admits, maintains, recognizes, and affiliates colleges and other sister institutions. It is primarily a research, teaching, affiliating, and examining body involved in the promotion of not only science and technology but other branches of learning as well. The University is open to all classes and creeds with the sole objective to carry people from darkness to light.
The KUST is located near Village Jerma, main Indus Highway on Bannu Road, about 9km from Kohat City towards East. Kohat lies at the periphery of Southern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and is at a distance of 66km south of the provincial capital, Peshawar. The University campus is surrounded by a regional facility of Agricultural Research System, Cadet College Kohat, Army Public College, Govt. Commerce College Kohat, F.G College for Women Kohat, etc. In other words, the university campus/city is like an academic town producing education right from the nursery to the highest level in almost all important disciplines.
