Aberystwyth University is celebrating another excellent performance in the annual National Student Survey (NSS) 2017. With an overall satisfaction score of 91% - seven percentage points higher than the UK average of 84% - we are proud to have some of the most satisfied final-year students in the UK. We are also ranked 2nd overall in the UK for Assessment and Feedback.

The Department of Welsh & Celtic Studies received a student satisfaction rating of 100%, with almost every other Department scoring more than 90% for overall satisfaction.

We do that within an inclusive and supportive environment, which enables our students to engage with the wider world and embrace its challenges. Since 2013, Aberystwyth University has been rolling out a major investment of over £100m to enhance and extend our excellent residential and teaching facilities.

These represent a major investment in the facilities which will be available to you. They will ensure that you will benefit from world-class teaching and learning facilities to ensure that you have all the skills you will require to succeed in the world of work. This represents one of the most significant investments in the University's history. Together they will ensure that Wales's oldest University will be well placed to survive the challenges of the twenty-first century – Aberystwyth's third century of existence.

Housed within this service department are four teams Planning, Governance, Reporting, and Data Analysis, Project Management & Change Unit. At Executive, Institute and Department level, Planning and Governance support the development and implementation of planning activities and strategy, including the delivery of the University's common Risk Management framework.

Our ambitions for the next five years are underpinned by values that our students and staff have communicated to us. These are values that we know are of central importance to all those who will be working to make the vision of Aberystwyth 2017 a reality. Aberystwyth 2017, is possible because of the people who embody the existing strengths and values of Aberystwyth 2012.

Aberystwyth University possesses a long and distinguished record of undertaking cutting edge research that has been recognized as being world-leading or internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigor, and as stated in the University's Strategic Plan 2012-17.

Research is an integral part of the University's mission and work. It is supported by a Research Strategy. Its purpose is to ensure that the University can continue to produce a significant volume of high-quality work and respond to the rapidly changing environment in the UK concerning research and its funding. The University has an excellent range of facilities and resources to assist with research activities, including four substantial libraries, access to a wide range of electronic information sources, and the vast resources of the prestigious National Library of Wales on its doorstep.
