Emmanuel College—a Catholic, coeducational, residential, liberal arts and sciences college in Boston—has been educating critical thinkers, ethical decision-makers, and community leaders since 1919.
Founded in 1919 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur as the first Catholic CollegeCollege for women in New England, Emmanuel today is a coeducational, residential college with a 17-acre campus in the heart of Boston's educational, scientific, cultural, and medical communities. Emmanuel enrolls more than 2,500 students, including 1,800 traditional undergraduate students from 28 states and territories and 52 countries.
At Emmanuel College, excellence in the liberal arts and sciences intersects with experiential learning opportunities, including student-faculty collaboration on research and scholarship internships with various corporations, institutions, and nonprofits service-learning study abroad programs and scores of co-curricular activities that promote engagement and leadership. The CollegeCollege offers more than 50 majors, minors, and concentrations in the liberal arts and sciences and graduate programs in education, nursing, and management.

We are a coed, residential Catholic liberal arts and sciences college with over 2500 undergraduate and graduate students representing 35 countries and 33 states and territories. We sit on 17 acres amid the excitement, resources, and culture of Boston. Our neighbors are the world-class surgeons of the Longwood Medical Area, the Monets and Gauguins of the Museum of Fine Arts… and 250,000 college students at institutions across the city.
Emmanuel College is home to students from 48 countries and welcomes applicants from around the globe. At Emmanuel, international students include non-U.S. citizens and non-permanent residents. While need-based aid is not available to international students, several merit scholarships are awarded each year.
We invite transfer students from community colleges and four-year institutions to apply for admission for the fall or spring semester. Students applying for the fall semester should have all application materials postmarked or submitted electronically no later than April 1. Students applying for the spring semester must have all materials postmarked by December 1.
Emmanuel is a residential, coed, Catholic liberal arts and sciences college located in the heart of Boston's Fenway neighborhood, alongside the Longwood Academic and Medical Area's world-renowned institutions.
In 1919, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, an international Catholic religious congregation, opened Emmanuel College as the first Catholic college for women in New England. Deeply committed to education, the Sisters founded the CollegeCollege to provide women with educational opportunities they might not have had otherwise. For more than 80 years, Emmanuel served proudly as a Catholic liberal arts and sciences college for women and enjoyed a reputation for academic rigor and a commitment to social justice. In 2001, the CollegeCollege officially became a coeducational institution, expanding its educational mission to include young men in its undergraduate arts and sciences program. As the CollegeCollege prepares to celebrate its Centennial is 2019, it does so as a thriving, future-focused institution, still deeply committed to its founding tenets.
