EduCativ
Martin University is a private, not-for-profit, liberal arts institution that prides itself on being unique, future-oriented, and student-centered. The University offers theoretical and experiential learning experiences that allow students to fully immerse themselves in their chosen fields before entering the workplace. Marking its 36th year in 2013, Martin University is Indiana’s only Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) of higher education. It is steeped in a history of service and open to a diverse population of students from all walks of life. Rev. Father Boniface Hardin and Sister Jane Schilling founded Martin University in 1977. Father Hardin named the college in honor of two Martins – The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and St. Martin de Porres, who worked with the poor in Peru in the 16th and 17th centuries and became the first bi-racial Catholic saint.
