California Baptist University Safety Services is committed to providing high-quality services to the university community and promoting a safe and secure environment that supports CBU's mission and philosophy. CBU maintains Safety Services to enhance the safety and security of the university community. The department assists with the protection of students, employees, and property. Safety Services assumes an educational role in teaching community members to look out for one another.
CBU certifies that it has established a campus security policy, is carrying out that policy, and meets the disclosure requirements of Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 regarding campus security policies and crime statistics. Information in the Emergency Response and Safety Handbook and Annual Security Report is provided by law annually to all current students, faculty, staff, employees, and upon request to applicants for employment or enrollment (or parents) or upon demand to the Secretary of the Department of Education. CBU Safety Services distribute the Annual Security Report throughout the year to new students at registration and new employees with their new-hire packet.
On September 18, 1950, the Los Angeles Southern Baptist Association opened the doors of California Baptist College in El Monte. The college began operations with 42 students in Fall 1950, 120 were enrolled during the 1950-51 academic year. In 1955, after four years of continued growth, the college relocated to more extensive facilities in Riverside.
Today, the Spanish-style buildings, including classrooms, campus housing, a library, offices, maintenance, and athletic facilities, are located on the 160-acre campus. Amid dynamic growth, California Baptist University continues the tradition of liberal arts education in a Christian environment.
