The history of the Lviv National Agrarian University begins on January 9, 1856, when a field school was opened in Dublyany near Lviv under the auspices of the Galician Economic Society. Current documents show that the purpose of the school, like all other similar scientific institutions, was to increase the number of farms, based on the analytical study of nature's laws. The school became an average professional, unique educational complex with some features of higher education. It was aimed at promoting the further improvement of agricultural production based on conducting scientific experiments and experiments.
Applicants of the educational-scientific institute's higher education can fully use the University's available material and technical base. Thirty-seven departments of the University provide the educational process. More than 450 teachers participate in the institute's educational process, including 50 doctors, professors, and more than 300 candidates of sciences, associate professors.
The University has more than 20 academicians and correspondent members of branch academies of sciences. Leading university lecturers use modern teaching technologies, innovative methods, and teaching methods. For qualitative training of students in the session period, the University created the appropriate conditions. Classes with students are held in specialized training rooms and laboratories. Students have reading rooms, including reading rooms at the student's residence. There are also teaching and study rooms and computer classes with Internet access. The Internet network was also conducted at the University's student hostels.
Both domestic and world experience in the field of education and science allow us to assert that, along with the stationary form of education, a significant contribution to the training of specialists for the sectors of the national economy is provided by correspondence and postgraduate education, which can be carried out both in isolation from the main activity and in parallel with by her. Studying at the Education and Research Institute of correspondence and postgraduate education allows the student to obtain the necessary knowledge base while working on a specialty, raising his professional level. Also, the training of specialists, which is carried out at the institute, allows for a two-way interaction between a specialist student of a certain level and the faculty and staff of the educational institution on the exchange of theoretical information and practical experience, as a proportion of students occupy corresponding positions in the specialty.
His school began to train host-practitioners who were capable of qualified and self-managed large farms. At that time, reliable foundations were laid for the future building of agricultural science and Galicia education.
An analysis of the Dublin school activities for the first period of its existence showed that the level of theoretical and practical training of specialists in those conditions could not meet the requirements of agricultural production. Therefore the movement for reforming agricultural education in the province unfolded. The branch school in Dublyany in 1878 became a state, and in 1880 - a higher educational institution.
At this time, Dublyans built educational buildings, a hostel, farm buildings, laid experimental fields, began their training and the production activity of the meteorological, mechanical, control and seed, chemical and agricultural and agricultural stations, expanded and replenished with rare plants and species of trees, the botanical garden, several educational and research laboratories. Along with the high school, there was also a lower agricultural school and distillery school.
In the Academy, scholarly schools have been recognized and recognized. Hence, the school achieved prestigious scientific heights in its activities. Its graduates enjoyed an indisputable authority among the general public, and the results of scientific research were known in Europe. The Academy has become one of the leading centers of agricultural science and education in Eastern and Western Galicia.
The joining of the western regions of Ukraine to the Polish state influenced Dublin's development. The need to train more and more students, the lack of training space, and the impossibility of new capital construction in the postwar period led the Academy and the authorities to seek a way out of trouble in association with higher educational institutions Lviv. Thus, the Academy lost autonomy and became a member of the Lviv Polytechnic. Based on the Academy in November 1919, a field-and-forest department of the Lviv Polytechnic was created. The first three semesters of study took place in Lviv, and the next three were in Dublin.
The institute gradually created new faculties: agronomy, agriculture, land management, economics, rural architecture, and construction. Periodically, fruit and vegetable, forest-melioration, and electrification of agriculture worked in the '60s of the twentieth century. In Dublin, there are new training buildings, a dining room, a household plant, multistory dwellings, and a student camp.
National liberation competitions of the late '80s and early '90s of the twentieth century did not pass in Dublin, where the educational process's active decommissioning began. On September 1, 1990, a national flag was solemnly raised above the institute's main building.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of September 5, 1996, based on the Agricultural Institute, created the Lviv State Agrarian University. On March 24, 2008, according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine, the Lviv State Agrarian University was granted national status.
