The National Changhua University of Education (NCUE) was established in 1971 in Changhua County, Taiwan. The university’s mission is to foster a holistic approach to education that emphasizes comprehensive student development. For decades, NCUE has been dedicated to cultivating a balanced program of teacher education, scholarly research, student development, and community service. The university employs a well-organized system for middle school teacher training. It is an established contributor to various academic fields, such as education, art, science, technology, engineering, management, social sciences, and physical education.
NCUE’s seven colleges together comprise 21 departments, 43 master programs, and 15 doctoral programs and see an average annual enrollment of approximately 8000 students. Several departments, such as the Department of Guidance and Counseling, the Department of Special Education, the Department of Industrial Education and Technology, and the Department of Finance, are the first in Taiwan. The university also has numerous distinguished research centers, such as the Community Counseling Center, the Special Education Center, the Science Education Center, the Technical and Vocational Education Center, the Environmental Education Center, and the Science and Technology Research Center.
The university is enhancing its e-learning services to further integrate the curricula with digital learning resources. With devoted teachers and staff, NCUE offers students a dynamic and exciting learning and living experience.
NCUE is situated in the northern part of Changhua County, one of the three earliest settlements in Taiwan. The mountain and coastal railroad routes converge in Changhua County, a busy transport hub in central Taiwan. Changhua is 15 minutes away by bus from Taichung High-Speed Rail Station. After transitioning from a professional teaching institution into an experienced and comprehensive university, NCUE developed systematic curricula to prepare students for many social and professional challenges. Specifically, NCUE focuses on fostering a broad, international perspective. In February 2013, the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs was established to facilitate international exchanges and expand educational activities. NCUE has entered into collaboration agreements with many prestigious universities worldwide to boost research income, devise new research collaborations, and offer more opportunities for students and faculty members to study or teach abroad. The university currently enjoys partnerships with more than 110 universities from Asia, North America, Europe, and Australia.
