Universidad Iberoamericana (IBERO), in its Mexico-City campus, is acknowledged as one of Mexico's top private educational institutions, widely known both in Mexico and abroad for the high quality of its study programs.

IBERO's underlying aim is to safeguard, disseminate, and improve higher education by training the professionals, teachers, researchers, and technicians our society needs. At present, it offers:

34 bachelor's-degree and 39 graduate-degree programs (27 master degrees, ten doctorates, and two specializations), most of which are certified either in Mexico or abroad, including several granted by Mexico's National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT) Over 200 diplomas and other courses that provide training to companies, government institutions, and individuals.

Underpinned by the Jesuit educational tradition, which has flourished worldwide for close to five centuries, our institution blends science and humanism in all its academic endeavors.

IBERO is one of the country's private leading academic and research institutions. It offers students a unique educational experience through its community of faculty, alumni, and professionals dedicated to real-world learning.

Established over 70 years ago, Universidad Iberoamericana (IBERO) is one of the nation's first private universities and the oldest Jesuit university.

Drawing on the legacy of improving ourselves every year, we provide rigorous research and study programs preparing students for life, educating the whole person through exposure to different faiths, cultures, and beliefs.

IBERO is an institution entrusted to the Society of Jesus, whose mission is to contribute to the achievement of a more free, solidary, just, inclusive, productive, and peaceful society through the development and spreading of knowledge and the formation of professionals and researchers with a high human and intellectual quality, internationally competent, committed to the most excellent service to others, and inspired by authentic human, social and transcendent values.

IBERO is recognized nationally and internationally by its Jesuit model of education that, inspired by the faith that fights for justice, in a dialogue with other religions and cultures, forms the best men and women for Mexico and the world and its socially pertinent and transformational research and partnerships, especially in the fields of education, social justice, poverty eradication, and sustainable development.

IBERO considers the following principles fundamental to its activities:

  • Freedom of conscience for all its members.
  • A continuous and sincere openness for dialogue with all schools of thought.
  • Academic freedom to teach and research – within the norms of morality and law, and following a Christian concept of the human being.
  • Genuine autonomy of academic functions, free from dependence on or submission to external political or economic interests.
  • A profound and practical sense of social justice strives for the integral development of human communities, especially those in most need.
  • Educational Philosophy

IBERO states that it is Educational Philosophy:

  • It is inspired by Christian values and aims to integrate those values with the scientific and philosophical advances in an atmosphere of permanent intellectual integrity and pursuit of truth.
  • Gives particular emphasis to the progress of interdisciplinary dialogue that strives to 1) form the individual integrally, 2) integrate the knowledge about a university, and 3) make continuous efforts to achieve the highest goals in terms of human and academic quality.
  • Instills in all its members a living awareness of the social problems and the resulting responsibility to contribute to their solution.
  • Attempts to serve Mexico's people by collaborating in the impartial and nonsectarian search for cultural identity, congruent with its history and open to the world.

For over 70 years – and backed by nearly five centuries of Jesuit educational tradition - IBERO has been forming professionals and researchers committed to - serving society. Our institution offers young people an option that goes beyond university courses by providing them with a sound, ethical, comprehensive education in which scientific and technical progress go along with human values in respect for diversity of ideas and beliefs.

This humanistic vocation has existed since the founding of the Company of Jesus in 1540. When Jesuits reached New Spain in 1572, their religious and educational zeal allowed them to create renowned teaching and research centers - such as the colleges of St. Ildefonso, Vizcainas, and St. Peter and St. Paul, to mention a few of the institutions that became very important in their time.

In 1943, the Jesuits founded a private institution of higher education - the University Cultural Center - a pioneering development in Mexican education. Ten years later, the center became the IBERO, an institution whose name reflected its desire to extend its services throughout the region. Nowadays, IBERO is part of a network of 8 universities located in various Mexican cities, which is, in turn, part of the Latin American branch comprehending 31 universities run by the Company of Jesus, and one of the more than two hundred Jesuit universities spread worldwide.

IBERO's curricula are designed to ensure students receive a high-quality education through a flexible study structure, state-of-the-art technology, and highly qualified faculty. IBERO's curricula also foster an education in values that stems from IBERO's humanistic tradition, such as freedom, justice, solidarity, creativity, affective integration, and behavior self-consciousness.
