The success story of the International Balkan University began in 2006. The Foundation for Education and Culture “USKUP” was founded by a group of intellectuals and academicians (scholars) to establish the INTERNATIONAL BALKAN UNIVERSITY as a cultural bridge between the Balkans and Turkey, with the intent of increasing the quality level of human capital in the region.
As a high-quality education provider, International Balkan University has adopted the mission of educating self-confident, multidimensional, socially responsible, and globally competitive individuals. The university also produces high-quality scientific research that will contribute to technological and economic development in the region. With this mission in mind, International Balkan University aims to become a renowned international educational institution that sees cultural diversity as an asset and that contributes to the development and stability of the Balkans by producing the best professional individuals who are ready to compete in the workforce.
IBU has seven faculties, including 19 undergraduate programs and six graduate programs in various fields, such as engineering, architecture, economics, administrative sciences, fine arts, educational sciences, communication, humanities, and social sciences. Our graduates with their professional qualifications on the one hand, and the university’s research output to the development of science through national and international projects, organized symposia, workshops, conferences, and academic events on the other, have significantly contributed to the university’s mission of increasing the educational level in the region.
Our graduates work in international organizations and advanced positions in various fields, evidencing the university’s educational and academic competence. According to criteria designed explicitly for ranking world academic institutions, this track record of success saw IBU ranked as the best private university in Macedonia in 2012 by the internationally recognized Shanghai University Ranking.
International Balkan University is an educational medium that transfers knowledge and experience in higher education from Turkey to the Balkans. Through numerous Mevlana and Erasmus Exchange programs and bilateral cooperation agreements with prominent Turkish universities, IBU has adopted diversity to achieve academic competence. The academic programs of International Balkan University have been accredited by the Macedonian Ministry of Education and Science and the prestigious Turkish Higher Education Council. Furthermore, starting in 2013, our degree programs are enlisted in the ÖSYS Booklet, thus creating an exclusive opportunity for Turkish students to enroll at IBU.
