Vologda State Technical University (VSTU) was founded in 1966 as a North-Western Polytechnic Institute branch. In 1975 it was reorganized into the Vologda Polytechnical Institute. In 1999 the Institute was given the rank of a University and the name of Vologda State Technical University.
VSTU is located in the North-Western region of the Russian Federation. VSTU is a distinct educational institution in the region. Currently, VSTU has a student body of 10 000. The University is recognized abroad and since 1996 has been accepted in the International Association of Universities. Vologda State University is a renamed Vologda State Technical University integrated into its structure Vologda State Pedagogical University. As a classical university, it provides a wide range of specialties and scientific potential.
Vastu cooperates with the universities and high schools of Germany, France, Austria, Hungary, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine in the academic exchange. Within the framework with our partners, foreign professors regularly visit our University for lecturing, various practical and theoretical courses for our students and teaching staff. They take part in scientific seminars, workshops, and conferences. The international students also come for practical training at our University, participation in seminars and conferences.
Vologda State University is one of the leading scientific and educational centers in the North-West of Russia. There are more than 360 highly skilled experts in our academic staff, including about 30 doctors of sciences and professors. The University conducts training of students and post-graduate students based on advanced scientific achievements.
We offer the following areas and forms of cooperation exchange of lectures,working-out joint bachelor's or master's degree programs, joint scientific research, joint symposia, scientific conferences and seminars, joint summer schools for undergraduate and post-graduate students as well as for the young university teachers, exchange education or study placement in the partner institution (for the period varying from one month to one semester ), exchange of student groups to explore the University and the region (7-10 days, accommodation in the families of students), various levels of Russian language summer courses with excursions in Vologda region, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
