The Siberian State Geodetic Academy was founded in 1933 as the Siberian Geodetic Institute. In due course, this institute was moved to Novosibirsk and in 1939 was renamed into the Novosibirsk Institute of Engineers of Geodesy, Air Photography, and Cartography (NIEGA&C). In 1994 the NIEGA&C was transformed into the Siberian State Geodetic Academy (SSGA).

The Science Project Program is the most comprehensive nonproliferation activity conducted by the ISTC. Through this program, the ISTC solicits scientific project proposals from institutes throughout the CIS and provides funding and logistic support to project teams.
Project teams receive written concurrence from the host country on whose research will be conducted and then develop and execute their project with foreign collaborating organizations. Foreign collaborators ensure the project goals contribute to the state-of-the-art in the field and that results will find applications in real problems in basic and applied research.
Within the scope of signed partner projects, ISTC's Procurement Department procures all necessary equipment, materials, and services, including agriculture, drug and vaccine development, hydrology, manufacturing, nuclear safety, and physics.ISTC Matchmaking support service presents a unique opportunity for Partners to expand their science cooperation with CIS and Georgian R&D organizations. We connect your technology interests with specialized expertise and specific skills of scientists and research institutes. A direct result of this activity is establishing science cooperation between Partner and CIS/Georgian scientists.
