Below you will find more information about the German and English offers for international students and university staff and give you an insight into life in the uniquely beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site that Stralsund is, situated right next to the Baltic Sea.

The Incoming Coordinator at the International Office (IO), Mr. Dane, is the first contact at HOST for international study applicants. He provides information and looks after you before, during, and after your period of study or internship at our University. The Incoming Coordinator is responsible for your admission to a study place. Students from abroad receive support for preparing and organizing their studies and for social integration in the University town of Stralsund.

The Outgoing Coordinator at the International Office, Ms. Ines Plantikow, helps students at HOST to plan and organize periods of stay abroad and advises them about financing opportunities. She holds regular information events. Our tip: arrange for individual first consultation about 1.5 years before your planned departure.

Hochschule Stralsund: University of Applied Sciences is a young and innovative campus university in Germany's northeast. With its modern equipment, excellent staff-student ratio, and the fantastic position right next to the Strelasund, an arm of the Baltic Sea, HOST offers the best conditions for studying, research, and quality of life. That is why it regularly manages to gain top positions in German university rankings.

Prospective students can choose from 27 accredited bachelor's and master's programs in German or English and one Diplom program. The programs on offer include not only traditional courses such as Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Business Administration, but also new and innovative programs such as IT Security and Mobile Systems, Motorsport Engineering, or Tourism Development Strategies. Approximately 2,200 students from 36 countries are studying at the three schools – Business Studies, Engineering, and Electrical Engineering and Informatics. That might not be as many as at other universities of applied sciences in larger towns – but apart from the clear practice orientation, it is above all the personal supervision that guarantees study success. And: the University does not just have a relaxed atmosphere, but also a family-friendly certification, and it is fully accessible for disabled people. That is what you call a HOST!

HOST is one of the most important institutions for educating highly qualified experts in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Graduates of our excellently ranked programs are highly sought after, not just in our region but throughout Germany and abroad. Nearly all the programs can also be studied as part of a dual program with a high practice amount. To make this possible, the University cooperates with several companies. Simultaneously, with its practice-oriented research, HOST is a vital impulse provider for the state's industry.

And as studying is an important part, but not everything, there are lots of activities on offer on campus. The student project teams, Baltic Racing and Thayer, for example, develop racing cars at the highest level. Recently, the HOST was even able to celebrate a European Championship title. The student business consultants at SUS support companies throughout the region. Carpe Diem e.V. organizes parties, cultural events, and the legendary Campusspektakel. The campus offers a wide range of sporting activities. And of course, the University has its sailing club. And don't forget: the nearest sandy beach is just a five-minute walk from the campus…
