With its disciplinary and cultural diversity and openness, TH Köln's activities are aimed at cultural and technological breakthroughs of high societal relevance TH Köln contributes substantially to resolving social challenges. As a community of faculty and students, we see ourselves as a learning organization forging new paths. For instance, TH Köln is one of the pioneers in developing and forming concepts for higher education didactics.

Our subject range includes the fields of Applied Natural Sciences Architecture and Construction Information and Communication Computer Science Engineering Culture Society and Social Sciences as well as Business Studies. More than 90-degree programs are offered as full-time programs or, in some cases, as career-integrated or part time programs. As a place where research-based learning and academic education occur, the university nurtures prospective scholars through cooperative dissertations. Annually, about 6,000 students take up their studies at TH Köln. Overall, 26,000 students from about 120 different countries and 420 professors and 1,200 staff employ their potential.

Research mainly focuses on future-related issues, including climate change, energy supply, health, food safety, and demographic changes. While developing solution strategies for our time's most critical questions, researchers offer their professional expertise in interdisciplinary interaction. At the same time, they closely collaborate with local, national, and international cooperation partners, including 290 international institutions of higher education. The university offers its researchers an attractive sphere of activity. The quality seal, "HR Excellence in Research," awarded by the European Commission, certifies that TH Köln meets international standards in the field of human resources development. TH Köln also emphasizes quality in advanced academic training and promotes competencies and personal and professional development through a variety of programs offered to those interested in further education, to those who are currently working and those who are returning to work.

Cologne University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1971 as a fusion of renowned predecessor institutions.

These included the Cologne Crafts Schools, the State Engineering Schools for Mechanical and Construction Engineering, the Cologne College of Higher Education for Business, the German Insurance Academy, the Cologne State College of Higher Education for Photography, the Cologne College of Higher Education for Social Work, the Gummersbach Campus, the old College of Higher Education for Librarianship and Documentation. Ultimately new chairs such as Restoration and Conservation, Design, and the Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics were added.

TH Köln: University of Applied Sciences' diverse research activities are reflected by its research profile. Three research areas and nine research topics serve as an umbrella for TH Köln's different research structures, such as research institutes, competence platforms, research units, and research centers.

In the Master's program Applied Chemistry, you learn to develop and strengthen necessary competencies that prepare you for independent work in chemistry research, chemical development, and production.

You acquire professional skills, particularly within the following areas of expertise: Modern Chemical Technologies, Green Chemistry, and Materials Chemistry. Additionally, you will gain the necessary critical competencies in practice-oriented learning scenarios. These allow you to develop new concepts, methods, compounds, materials, prototypes, and products on a lab-scale, plant-scale, or production-scale, even in unfamiliar situations.

The Master's program in Drug Discovery and Development offers an excellent opportunity to obtain a degree in pharmaceutical research and development. The program is jointly offered by TH Köln - University of Applied Sciences and the University of Cologne.

Information plays a pivotal role in today's information society. People and enterprises require information in order to make decisions. Providing the right information at the right time, in the right quality, and at the right place is crucial.

Current global trends such as population and economic growth and climate change exert increasing pressure on water resources worldwide. These resources are the basis for food production, urban and industrial water supplies, and hydropower. Experts understand that multiple problems of water resources management can only be addressed through a holistic approach.

The profile of the Master's program is application-oriented. Besides providing the participants with an overview of the water sector in general, the aim is to educate experts in the field of Integrated Water Resources Management. This requires diversification of their knowledge and leads to the capability of cross-linked thinking. The answer to complex environmental and water-related problems requires more economical and managerial competencies than classical technical knowledge.
