We established one of the first Bachelor degrees in Architecture in 1927 and now educate the full range of built environment professionals. We have a lively culture of exploration manifested in many forms, from classroom and studio to research inquiry, complemented by lectures, forums, and exhibitions. The Melbourne Model led to the Bachelor of Environments and the establishment of the Melbourne School of Design. This new degree now leads to a range of postgraduate courses taught through the Faculty’s Melbourne School of Design (MSD), including architecture, construction management, landscape architecture, property, urban Planning, and urban design, all of which provide professional accreditation and position the university centrally within the built and natural environments as a gateway to practice. The Faculty of Architecture, Building, and Planning hosts the Bachelor of Design, a comprehensive range of built environment graduate programs, the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute (MSI), and the Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network (AURIN). The new Bachelor of Design offers unique flexibility to complete majors, minors, double majors, and specializations. You can combine in-depth study in a particular area with subjects from a wide range of disciplines within the design field.
