The University of Applied Sciences: Public Administration and Finance Ludwigsburg specializes in public administration education. Several professors and lecturers teach approximately 2500 students of the University. The two faculties.

Graduates concluding their Bachelor studies can apply the acquired knowledge and skills in a professional environment. The didactical concept encourages scientific work and is designed to give graduates a sense of responsibility in a free democratic and social, constitutional state. The programs enable the students to develop their academic, personal, social, team-building, and business skills.

A distinguishing characteristic of the Bachelor's programs is the combination of academic work and practical experience in the form of public administration trainees at the state and municipal level. Small study groups ensure excellent support can be given to individual students by the professors and lecturers. Applicants for the Bachelor's programs must have a valid higher education entrance qualification (e.g., A-levels).

The University offers two Master's programs: The full-time Master's program in European Public Administration prepares graduates for a career in senior civil service positions. The Master of Public Management is a part-time program with a particular focus on leadership and is designed for public administration employees seeking a senior management position.

Undergraduate programs: 4 Bachelor degrees (Public Management, Tax Administration, Pension Insurance Management, Public Financial Management)

Postgraduate programs: 2 Master programs (Public Management, European Public Administration).

Course structure: Small study groups alternating between teaching at University and work experience in local and regional authorities.

The Bachelor program Public Management is designed to provide students with a thorough grounding in law, business, social sciences, and communication required at state and municipal administration levels. The three-year study program must be preceded by a six-month internship, allowing students to gain practical experience in their preferred professional area. The extra focus on teamwork further enhances the program. The program is extremely popular with leading employers, and a significant number of graduates have become mayors.

The University of Applied Sciences Ludwigsburg is the only educational institution in Baden-Württemberg that educates students for civil service positions in tax administration. The three-year study program's rotating system allows the students to spend 21 months studying and 15 months working in tax authorities. Students acquire the necessary tax-related expertise and knowledge in general law and business as well as technical and social skills. The program qualifies graduates for high-level careers in tax offices and accountancy, industry and commerce, and the banking and insurance sectors.

The study program Pension Insurance Management prepares students for a career in high-level public administration positions in the German state pension insurance system. The program's responsible authority is the State Pension Insurance Authority (Deutsche Rentenversicherung Baden-Württemberg), one of Germany's biggest statutory providers. The three-year Bachelor program comprises a 10-month basic course at the University, 14 months of work experience at the public services department for pensions in special on-the-job training programs (traineeships). A 12-month course of specialized studies follows it.
