The TSU specialists have visited abroad, and foreign scientific researchers from Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, and other countries can come to Moldova in the framework of various collaboration agreements. The international cooperation is also reflected by the participation of the University researchers at various scientific forums. The Tiraspol State University representatives are members of some international bodies, especially acad. M. Ciobanu, a member of different Mathematical Societies of Russia, Romania, and the Southeastern European countries. A. Şubă is a member of the U.S. Society of Mathematics E. Gheorghiţă, and other collaborators are members of the European Society of Physics A. Lungu, and N. Volontir is members of the Romanian Society of Paleontology. The academician M. Ciobanu is a member of the editorial board responsible for Oradea and Pitesti's university bulletins.

The Tiraspol State University collaborators have participated in several international projects, the donors of the international organizations that support universities (TEMPUS - 4 projects, UNESCO – 2 projects), which provide technical assistance to the Republic of Moldova (World Bank, UN, and TACIS). The research results were highly appreciated by the state bodies and the scientific community. From 2001 to 2010 were obtained the following awards: National Award in Science and Technology of the Republic of Moldova (M. Shepherd, L. Calmuţchi, L. Chiriac) Award for Youth in science, art, literature and the arts (2003 D. Afanas, 2008 A.Braicov), Diplomas of honorable mention (International exhibition "MOLDECO - 2004",

In the framework of TSU activity, scientific research and studies are carried out based on state programs, international and local projects, and grants selected on a competitive basis. In the framework of projects included in the state team, during the scientific research implementation, participate about 60 people annually. Over the last years, research studies were carried out in the framework of 5 institutional projects, 1 State Program project, one bilateral Moldovan-Russian project, and 14 foreign grants, through which the University has obtained donations, besides, were paid the internships and delegations of researchers to carry out the scientific research studies, the exchange of experiences, and participation in scientific forums.

The most important scientific results from the State University of Tiraspol, which have innovative, competitive, and perspective character, and are highly appreciated at the national and international scales, were registered in the following directions (according to the profiles). Tiraspol State University has established national relationships. Researchers cooperate with scientific institutions according to their profiles, particularly with those from the Academy of Sciences, to implement scientific research studies, exchange experience on the methods of investigation, and edit familiar scientific works. Also, the State University of Tiraspol cooperates with the higher education institutions in conducting scientific research studies in developing and publishing scientific reports and teaching materials, in realizing a licensing thesis by undergraduate students, in doctorate conducting, and in consulting other institutions. After graduating from the University, our professionals in various fields are accepted and promoted in institutions we work with.

The State University of Tiraspol entered into the education system of Moldova as the first higher education institution. Along with the teaching staff training activity, an extensive investigatory activity takes place at the University. Research and innovation studies play the leading role since the foundation of the institution. The oldest higher education institution has the oldest guard of researchers who subsequently formed the research teams' basis from various institutions of higher education and scientific organizations in the country. The highly qualified scientists have also worked in the interwar period: Cozac M.I. Lingua N.G., Şcerbac I.D., Porodico F. M., M. F. Iaroşenco (Academician) Volcov I.F., Agasieva N.A., and others.

In the University, the research studies are carried out following the priority directions of research and development: evaluation of the human, natural, and information resources for sustainable development and nanotechnologies, industrial engineering, new products, and materials. Investigations consider fundamental research in real science (mathematics, physics, and informatics) and natural sciences (biology, geography, chemistry). The socio-pedagogical and psychological concepts and strategies of education development in Moldova, which constitute another important research direction in the TSU, are entirely consistent with the European Educational System's contemporary trends of integration. In 2007, the TSU was undergone to the state accreditation procedure under the Code on Science and Innovation of the Republic of Moldova for the following profiles:

  • Modernization of the education process in the context of European integration
  • Monitoring, modeling, and exploitation of biological and geo-ecological systems
  • Current problems of mathematical and physicochemical sciences.
