Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences was established in 1987 and is situated in Apeldoorn. Focusing on five key themes, "Management, Internationalisation, Diversity, Sustainability, & Innovation," Wittenborg is one of the fastest-growing independent international University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. With around 600 students from more than 80 different countries studying on its Bachelor and Master programs in two schools, the School of Business and the School of Hospitality & Tourism. In its 10-year plan, presented in 2013, Wittenborg aims to grow into a comprehensive university with five schools. The new schools under the development are School of Art & Technology, School of Health & Social Care, and School of Education. Wittenborg is determined to provide cross-discipline & applied-science education to assure its graduates are more suited for the future job market within an international context.

Wittenborg University operates from a closely-knit international team of professional people dedicated to excellence in business and entrepreneurship. The degree programs are all offered entirely in English. With staff from more than 20 different countries and cultures, English is the only language spoken at Wittenborg! Wittenborg offers foundation programs and IELTS courses to both its Bachelor and Master students and students from other institutes.
Wittenborg University's Education Department ensures the curriculum's organization is carried out as described in the Education & Examination Guides, besides being also responsible for the development and quality control of the curriculum of all the University's programs through the Education Board. The board, made up of academic members from different areas of the University, is chaired by the University's Academic Dean, Dr. Jacques Kaat. Wittenborg's programs are developed and monitored by the Education Board, on the one hand, comparable to the research and development department of an organization, and the other hand, to the program management team within an institute of higher education. The Education Board is responsible for aligning its programs with the professional field and requirements of the market.
