The "Iuliu Hatieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy is the cradle of medical education in Cluj-Napoca, with a history dating from 1500. Today, the University is one of the most important and appreciated Romanian universities. The University is situated in Cluj-Napoca, a town attested in the Roman Empire when Hadrian gives the city the statute "municipium Aelium Hadrianum Napocenses." Later, in 1213, the city is found under the name of "Castrum Claus." After many transformations in Transylvania, tumultuous but intense in affirming the Romanian identity, the Faculty of Medicine becomes the first Medicine School in Romanian, here in Cluj. Professor Iuliu Hatieganu, who gives the name to our University, was the first professor and dean of the new faculty and the medical school founder in Cluj.
Today, we have a worldwide reputation, which we want to keep and develop with our students' help, the ones that we gladly receive each year. Our purpose is to enhance the quality and human and professional excellence along with every new student.
