We teach the Australian Curriculum from Kindergarten through to Year 10, focusing on the Reggio Emilia philosophy and nature play in the Early Childhood Years from Kindergarten to Year 2 and the International Baccalaureate pedagogy from Kindergarten to Year 12.
ISWA is accredited to teach the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, and we are a Candidate School for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. ISWA is part of an emergent network of IB Schools in Western Australia and Australia that share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that will equip our students to become compassionate and productive global citizens.
The school is also registered with the College Board (USA) to offer the rigorous Advanced Placement (AP) courses to our older students – the only school in Australia. ISWA is also registered with the Department of Education Services (Government of Western Australia). Our International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement curricula provide students with a high quality 'portable' education that will stand them in good stead whether they return home, move on to a new country, or stay in Australia.
Our students have achieved outstanding results in the NAPLAN tests (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy), which have placed us amongst the top schools in Australia. You can read more about these results and other aspects of the school's performance under School Performance.
ISWA is open to local students as well as international students from Kindergarten through to Year 12. The school is situated in the beautiful suburb of City Beach. It has a strong community feel while at the same time integrating seamlessly with the global community.
The International School of WA (ISWA) provides a unique educational opportunity for both local (Perth) and international students from Kindergarten (K) to Year 12. At ISWA, students study the Australian Curriculum from Years K-10, ensuring a seamless transition from local schools. Our Curriculum is transferable and transportable both within Australia and around the world.
ISWA is the only school in Western Australia. Students can benefit from the progressive, inquiry-based, and child-centered international Baccalaureate (IB) learning pedagogy in a co-educational, non-denominational, egalitarian environment from Kindergarten through to Year 12.
The mission of an IB is to create knowledgeable, tolerant, open-minded, compassionate, and principled learners, and the global perspectives of staff and students readily facilitates this through an inclusive, welcoming, and internationally-minded focus and approach to learning. In our Kindergarten program, we have embedded the Reggio Emilia approach to Early Childhood education that focuses on the child and learning through nature.
ISWA celebrates a modern, progressive approach to educational values, where teachers and students are collaborators in a common goal, and where uniqueness is celebrated within an overarching framework of finding common ground, harmony, and mutual respect.
The International School of Western Australia is a co-educational, non-denominational independent school situated in Perth and globally. We support children's growth and achievement from families who desire a unique boutique education characterized by an experience of excellence and student voice within an internationally-minded, open-minded, and culturally minded 21st-century learning community.
At the International School of Western Australia, we inspire and challenge our students to achieve personal excellence, pursue a passion for learning, and be responsible global citizens who take the initiative to make a positive difference. Our international Curriculum, holistic education, and excellent academic results prepare our students for further studies worldwide and position ISWA as a well recognized and sought after international school.
Our growing, energetic, and enthusiastic international community of students, teachers, and parents all work together to provide a balanced learning environment that nurtures inclusivity, inquiry, and responsible risk-taking. Our warmth of welcome allows students and parents to quickly develop a strong sense of belonging to our school community, where cultural diversity is celebrated.
