Hinchinbrook Christian School

Since 1984, Hinchinbrook Christian School has been offering parents a distinctly Christian education for their children. Its co-educational program is delivered via the traditional classroom in Ingham and Distance education for those outside the Ingham district. It is a ministry of the Ingham Independent Baptist Church.
Besides the usual emphasis on academics and sports, students at HCS are encouraged to develop their Christian responsibility toward others. Regular Christian service opportunities are provided for the students through their classroom interaction, nursing homes, and church activities participation. High school students are encouraged to do the “Teens ‘n Training” (leadership development program) through Camp Benaiah.
HCS seeks to develop a family atmosphere in which all the students seek to help each other. Parents are encouraged to assist in their students’ education by supervising homework, helping in the classroom if their schedule permits, and maintaining regular communication with staff.
The School Concert consisted of a 45-minute music segment in which the students and staff sang, played instruments, and narrated the Christmas story. The second segment of the concert was the premier showing of the student-produced movie “The Holy War.” The students spent about five weeks filming the story with hand puppets in front of a green screen. The footage was then edited, and appropriate backgrounds, music, and sound effects were added to complete the project.
Three of our students did very well in the Junior Arts competition. They received eight first places in the piano, violin, and piano duet sections. Excursions: The school took a two day trip to the Atherton Tablelands. They visited Malanda falls, the Curtain Fig Tree, Milla Milla Falls, the Kuranda Wildlife Park, and stayed overnight at Quinola Lakes Camp.
