Deniliquin Christian School (DCS) is a Kindergarten to Year 10 School, and this position needs to be supportive of the Kindergarten - Year 10 context of the school. The school culture is one of close collaboration across the school. The vision of the school is: "To be a Christ-centred community where families and school work together nurturing, educating and equipping children for life through a Christian Worldview." The basis of our education is the Bible, God's Word, which teaches that:

  • All things have been created by God so that He might be glorified in and through them.
  • God is sovereign over all.
  • God is to be honored and served in all areas of life.
  • God has appointed parents to be responsible for the education of their children and to "bring them up in the nurture and instruction of the Lord" (Eph 6:4).
  • To teach children to think with a Christ-like attitude.
  • To assist children in making the best possible use of their God-given talents.
  • To involve parents actively in their children's education by participation in day to day activities and the school's running.
  • To maintain uniformity of training and teaching at home and school while preparing them to be Christ's disciples worldwide.

The average class size in the Primary section is 12 students, and we commit to keeping the numbers low so that every student receives important one-to-one contact with their teachers. By keeping the classes small, we maintain a positive culture that flows throughout the school.

We deliver the NSW Board of Studies curriculum looking through a Christian perspective lens and attached to real values. We extend the creative and performing arts, and students are encouraged to develop their skills and talents. Visiting music tutors also attend to give private tuition. A recently revitalized library seeks to develop and extend student reading. We extend student development in sport, with regular lessons at the Deniliquin Sports Stadium, which has a wide variety of sporting activities that students access. Outdoor education includes the garden project as well as investigating our natural resources at our doorstep.

Parents receive two reports each year in addition to parent-teacher interviews. Parents are encouraged to keep in regular contact with their child's teacher. Each classroom has a set of computers, which allows a significant amount of access to complete tasks and research. Often students work in groups on individual or cooperative projects to access IT. Stage 1 has an additional bank of IPads that accesses the highly recommended APS designed to promote and extend learning. In mathematics, the Mathletics software program is widely used as it tracks students' progress and presents the next segment of activity to a level appropriate for the student to learn. This way, students at all levels of the learning continuum are catered for.
