Concordia College has a rich history and tradition as an academic and a caring school, encouraging and supporting young people to be successful, independent learners. Established in 1890 in the Victorian country town of Murtoa as a boy's college and training ground for future pastors and teachers, Concordia moved to its present location in Highgate in 1905. St John's Lutheran Primary School was opened on the adjacent site in 1952. Since its opening, the school has enjoyed a long and close association with the St John's Lutheran Church congregation in Unley.

Through personalized learning, we cater to our students' different learning needs at each stage of their development. Technology is integrated into all aspects of learning, encouraging our students to unlock different learning modes and processes. Concordia College welcomes students with special needs and values them as unique individuals. We offer an inclusive education program where students' individual needs are addressed through differentiation. Each campus has specialist learning support teachers who help identify modifications and adjustments that enable students with special needs to access an education relevant to their learning needs and personal goals.

An International Baccalaureate World School since 2001, our learning program reflects our belief in a balanced education that fosters academic, emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual growth. We aim to provide a purposeful learning environment where students feel secure and supported, with opportunities that engage and challenge them to discover what is possible. The Primary School curriculum, based on the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and the world outside. The PYP is a framework guided by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, explored using knowledge and skills with an emphasis on inquiry. PYP schools seek to ensure that learning is engaging, relevant, challenging, and significant.

Our strong Pastoral Care program ensures that children are nurtured at every stage of their development. Our teachers value getting to know each student as a unique individual created and loved by God. A variety of co-curricular opportunities are offered to broaden and enhance opportunities for student engagement and learning. As students progress through the preceding years, we aim to offer a range of meaningful leadership opportunities.

Students at all year levels have the opportunity to represent their classes on the Student Representative Council. The culmination of the Primary Years Programme is the Year 6 Exhibition, in which students showcase their Learning Journey from ELC to Year 6. As a service to our school and community's families, Concordia provides an Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) program for students in Reception to Year 6.

The Middle School at Concordia, encompassing Years 7 to 9, is a vibrant and supportive learning environment that provides discovery, creativity, and innovation opportunities. Excellence in the classroom is encouraged, and students are challenged to engage in inquiry-based learning. The Senior School at Concordia, encompassing Years 10 to 12, is a challenging yet supportive environment, providing students opportunities to build on their strengths and interests as they prepare for their future learning and career pathways.

Students in the Senior Years continue to develop critical literacy, numeracy, and lifelong learning skills while gaining knowledge and skills in specialized areas of interest. Our academic programs encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning goals and outcomes while supporting them to grow as confident, independent, and collaborative learners. The Senior School academic program builds on the International Baccalaureate Programme offered in the Middle School years. Students choose from a wide range of subjects as part of a broad and well-balanced curriculum, enabling them to gain the IB Diploma or the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) on completion of Year 12.
