The University of Redlands is a private, independent liberal arts university committed to providing a personalized education that frees students to make enlightened choices.
Redlands emphasizes academic rigor, curricular diversity, and innovative teaching. Redlands fosters a community of scholars and encourages a pluralistic notion of values by challenging assumptions and stereotypes in both classes and activities. Redlands education goes beyond training to embrace a reflective understanding of our world. It proceeds from information to insight, from knowledge to meaning.
Welcoming intellectually curious students of diverse religious, ethnic, national, and socioeconomic backgrounds, the University seeks to develop responsible citizenship as part of a complete education. Redlands encourages a community atmosphere with an exceptional opportunity for student leadership and interaction. For working adults, the University offers innovative academic programs at convenient locations and times.
Redlands blends liberal arts and professional programs, applied and theoretical study, traditional majors, and self-designed contracts for graduation. Small classes enable each student to participate in class discussions, work closely with professors, and receive extensive individual attention. Redlands remains sensitive to contemporary trends in society and challenges students to commit themselves to a lifetime of learning.
University of Redlands graduates go on to thriving careers in various fields—from business to education to the arts. Wherever they go, they bring a broad perspective, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking skills developed at Redlands and found a community of more than 50,000 fellow Redlands alumni.
More than 40 undergraduate programs, 21 Division III athletic teams, more than 120,000 annual community service hours, 21 Fulbright awards in nine years, 100-plus clubs, a history spanning more than a century. Find out how to personalize your education today at the University of Redlands. To help students launch their careers, the University's Office of Professional Development offers various support, including professional assessments, referral management, employment research, resumes, portfolios, and interviews. Alumni continue to have access to the office's services.
More than 90% of our students receive financial aid. During the 2016-2017 academic year, approximately 95 percent of the College of Arts and Sciences undergraduate students received financial assistance. With merit and talent-based scholarships, as well as generous financial aid packages, Redlands works hard to enable students to discover their passions and begin pursuing their dreams.
The University of Redlands admissions counselors looks forward to partnering with you and your institutions this year. Together we can help every student begin the journey towards higher education.
Our rich history goes back to 1907 with the stated mission "to mold the mind and the heart so that in the conflict of life, keenness and conscience shall go forth together." More than a century later, students continue to be at the center of a diverse and enriching academic experience, and the mission remains fundamentally unchanged: educating minds and hearts. From the beginning, our University's story has been one of growth, change, and innovation.
Through it all, our students have remained the central focus of a diverse and balanced academic experience that prepares them not merely to learn but to lead. Today, over 100 years after founder Jasper Newton Field proclaimed, "I am in favor of having a college that will be a credit to ourselves and the state, or none at all," Redlands continues to live up to his optimistic vision.
