As Kentucky's flagship institution, the University plays a critical leadership role by promoting diversity, inclusion, economic development, and human well-being.

    The University of Kentucky:

    • Serves a global community by disseminating, sharing, and applying knowledge.

The University contributes to the economic development and quality of life within Kentucky's borders and beyond, nurturing a diverse community characterized by fairness and equal opportunity. The University of Kentucky has a broad range of resources centered on a single campus in the heart of the Bluegrass. Our wide array of programs allows us to excel in multidisciplinary studies and fosters an environment of cooperative engagement across all colleges, programs, and research endeavors. Because of the lives we touch and teach, we remain anchored in our mission to Kentucky– to educate, innovate, heal, and serve. To be sure, our complex, multi-faceted mission looks different today in many ways than it did in 1865. However, our sense of responsibility to our communities on campus and across the region is resolute. The mission has evolved and grown. The vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world beyond remains the same. They remain our compass – the soul of the University of Kentucky.

As Kentucky's indispensable institution, we transform our students' lives and advance the Commonwealth we serve – and beyond – through our teaching and learning, diversity and inclusion, discovery, research and creativity, promotion of health, and deep community engagement.

The University of Kentucky can provide you with a world-class education, filled with the possibility of new ideas and learning experiences that will prepare you for the future. But campus life also offers plenty of other experiences beyond what takes place solely in a classroom.

Getting involved in a student organization is not just fun and games (though they are much fun) it's about making you a happier and more successful Wildcat. Research shows that students involved with a student organization are more connected to their University and perform better in the classroom. And with more than 450 student organizations, there's an activity for you at the University of Kentucky.

Living on campus makes it easy to meet new people who share your interests. U.K.'s Living Learning Program allows you to live and study subjects and topics with other students right in your residence hall. Outside your room, you can explore dozens of great dining options ranging from home-cooking to international fare. And you can make sure you stay in shape at the Johnson Center, a state-of-the-art fitness facility it features the latest workout equipment, basketball and racquetball courts, and a rock-climbing wall right in the middle of it all. At the University of Kentucky, and in Lexington, it's not a question of what to do. It's a question of how to decide.

Whether it's getting involved with student government getting some help with your classes at The Study, the Writing Center, or the Hub, planning concerts with the Student Activities Board landing a shift at the campus radio station, or simply hanging out in the Student Center, campus life at the U.K. has something for everyone.
