What brings students to UWLA is our achievement of a top-quality, affordable, and flexible education. UWLA provides those who must work full-time and attend school part-time the opportunity to pursue their education goals. This has been our mission since UWLA was founded in 1966.
Our student body is rich in diversity, age, race, ethnicity, work/life experiences, and career goals, making UWLA a front-runner in a dynamic and engaging environment for the serious student. For over 50 years, The University of West Los Angeles School of Law has carried out its mission to make quality legal education accessible to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity. Join us.
UWLA School of Business (BUS) Academic Advisor or Dean or Dean's designee will supervise students accepted into the SOB Program. All new students will be required to meet with their Academic Advisor or Dean's office during the orientation period or another time in their first-term attendance. Advising will take place through a combination of online meetings or face-to-face visits, telephone calls, and email communication. Students will have continual online and by-appointment access to the faculty throughout their course of study.
UWLA School of Business focuses on providing appropriate academic support opportunities for its students on both the Masters and Bachelors level. Working in conjunction with the faculty, UWLA offers reviews, tutoring, and workshops that focus on various points of emphasis that will directly impact the students and their performance. Using professors and successful graduates, UWLA maintains a great team to support its diverse student population.
The UWLA School of Business is committed to providing services and reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities. The ADA Compliance Officer monitors our ADA Program.
Any student who desires to receive services from the ADA Program should carefully review all its policies and procedures. While the University of West Los Angeles recognizes its legal obligation to provide reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities, students requesting and utilizing these services have certain obligations and responsibilities surrounding their use of such services.
The mission of the Institutional Research office is to collect, compile, and analyze data that will provide informed decision making in support of the University of West Los Angeles' overall mission. This includes but is not limited to supporting the academic and operational activities of the university.
We began as a nonprofit, private educational institution with just six students in 1966 when a visionary group of local educators addressed the need for educational programs geared toward working adults. To broaden the community's access to a top-notch education in law, UWLA was born.
Since its inception, UWLA has been dedicated to providing opportunities to driven individuals looking for affordable and superior education.
Our Law School became accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of The State Bar of California in 1978. It has been continuously accredited since that date.
Today, UWLA is a premier institution of higher learning and accredited through WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), so we can continue to produce intelligent, well-educated, successful people who value a superior education, want to serve their communities, and who see themselves as agents of change.
Our mission and long, rich history, traditions, and methodologies have all been created to provide you a wide variety of high-quality programs that will help you reach your professional goals—both in-class and at home.
In 1971, UWLA created a Paralegal program that offered a bachelor's and certificate program, which ran until 2006, when it acquired by another institution. In July 2002, the law school expanded by acquiring the San Fernando Valley College of Law, located in Chatsworth. Now we operate this campus for the School of Law and School of Business. In 2016, a new School of Business bachelors program was created to help our students not only develop intellectual, social, and personal development but gain the business acumen and practical skills needed to be hired by a wide range of business professionals around the world.
