Monroe College was founded in 1933 with a single goal: To educate men and women for a successful future. Monroe is recognized as a leader in providing a focused, career-oriented, quality education that integrates classroom learning with real-world experience. Monroe offers a range of certificate, associate, bachelor's, and master's degree programs.
The College stands out for many reasons, and one of those reasons is the faculty. Monroe faculty are more than just professors—they are mentors, motivators, and Monroe family members. Even more, each professor brings invaluable experience into the classroom. Whether they are former NYPD detectives, business leaders, chefs, or nurses, Monroe professors make sure their students benefit from their practical knowledge. At Monroe, there are no huge lecture halls. Because classes are small, instruction is personalized, and professors know their students by name. It is one of the main reasons our students do well—there is always a professor who will arrive early or stay late to help students understand and learn. Because of their dedication, Monroe faculty receive over a 90% positive rating on student surveys.

No matter what your dream is, we will help you achieve it. Your career goals? Ditto. Our academic programs are a unique combination of classroom learning and in-person doing, designed to help you be a better (and more educated) you.
Monroe College is nationally recognized for its outcomes and unique student-focused culture. Our faculty and staff are committed to helping our students thrive academically, personally, and professionally.
That journey begins with our First-Year Experience (FYE) program, a robust approach to providing first-year students with enhanced resources, services, and support to help them adjust to college life and navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead of them, and ultimately stay on the path toward graduation.
From tutoring support and technological resources to social activities and special events, our FYE program is designed to help students grow as students, as young emerging professionals, and as members of the broader community.
Since its founding in 1933, Monroe College has emphasized real-world understanding as a critical element of a student's academic journey. Monroe combines innovative academics with a signature cooperative education program, experiential learning, and a burgeoning study abroad program.
This unique learning environment is what makes a Monroe education stand out. Incorporating course work and real-world experience develops students' critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills while introducing them to new perspectives in their fields. As a result, undergraduates and graduates are better prepared for success in their careers and, ultimately, in life. Monroe College students can take courses over a three-semester-a-year academic calendar. This allows students to complete 45 credits in one year and get their degrees sooner than they thought possible.
The College offers financial aid to students seeking the benefits of a Monroe education through a combination of need-based aid, scholarships, and grants.
Monroe College strongly encourages students to extend their learning experience beyond the classroom. Through academic, social, and cultural groups and activities, students have ample opportunity to join organizations that interest them, support causes they believe in or have fun with a diverse group of their peers. Being a part of the Monroe community means getting involved and developing the leadership skills that will serve students both personally and professionally.
Monroe College's two campuses offer the best of both worlds: an idyllic, quiet, suburban campus in Westchester County's New Rochelle, and a lively urban campus in the Fordham section Bronx in New York City. Both campuses are a 30-minute train ride to midtown Manhattan. New York City is home to some of the world's best cultural offerings. It is also considered the country's media and business capital. Monroe sponsors regular trips to help students take advantage of NYC's many offerings.
Living on campus is an exciting way to enjoy College and to bond with classmates. Monroe's Residence Life program offers several options for residing on the New Rochelle campus and making College an immersive experience.
The Student Services Office is the hub of campus life at Monroe. It provides students with advisory services, resources, and other tools needed to adjust to college life and ensure a valuable and memorable experience. Each student is assigned a Student Services counselor, who is always available to address academic or personal concerns, with no appointment necessary.
