McDaniel College was founded in 1867 as the first co-ed college just south of the Mason-Dixon line. Our motto, E Tenebris in Lucem Voco, means "I call you out of darkness into light."
In 2002, the College changed names from Western Maryland College to McDaniel College in honor of alumnus and professor emeritus William Roberts McDaniel, class of 1880.

The McDaniel College Office of Institutional Research functions as the primary source for official campus statistics, in compliance with Federal, MHEC, and MICUA reporting requirements. We supply data for specific departmental assessments while helping to facilitate and evaluate surveys, and we contribute to various institution-wide efforts requiring analytic expertise.

Noncredit workshops and training, post-baccalaureate certificates, course sequences around a particular objective, or customized programming can be tailored to your goals and delivered at our location or yours. Because our full-time and adjunct faculty members have experience in the field, the content you receive is academically sound but current and highly applicable.
McDaniel currently offers a variety of noncredit opportunities in Gerontology and TESOL. We are expanding our portfolio to offer workshops and training opportunities in a variety of fields. If you have a specific need in another discipline, we can work with you to build customized noncredit training to meet your needs.

McDaniel College is pleased to offer several scholarships valued at $25,000 annually ($100,000 over four years), unlike programs you will find elsewhere.
