Indiana University Southeast, a regional campus of Indiana University, is a four-year, public, comprehensive university located in New Albany, Indiana, just across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky. Founded in 1941, it provides high-quality educational programs and services that promote student learning and prepare students for productive citizenship in a diverse society, contributing to the intellectual, cultural, and economic development of our region.
Our safe, walkable campus is just six miles from exciting downtown Louisville, which offers cultural excitement and a wealth of notable events, alongside opportunities for internships and post-graduation employment in Fortune 500 companies. The campus is home to a diverse and eclectic student community. Besides our core of traditional students who arrive as freshmen straight out of high school or homeschool, nontraditional students such as adult learners and veterans also play a prominent role in shaping campus life. Student involvement is high, with over 100 student groups and organizations. If you do not see one that fits your needs, you can start your own.

Diversity is the valuing and respecting of difference, including socioeconomic status, race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, cultural and international origin, and other traditionally underrepresented at the university and society. We grow and evolve as a university through seeing equality and representation as a goal and human right for everybody. Indiana University Southeast is committed to recruiting students from diverse populations and making the climate and curriculum welcoming and equitable. Students will leave the university with a raised level of awareness of the history of equality and difference and attain international awareness, so that their understanding of academic disciplines, society, and the workplace will be enhanced, and they will be receptive to and promote valuing and respecting difference in their lives and the workplace.
IU Southeast delivers valuable and respected Indiana University degrees and certificates in more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs. The history of IU Southeast goes back to before 1941 when we were a branch campus of Indiana University located in Jeffersonville. Our story goes back to elite British soldiers of the 17th century… the Grenadiers.
After decades of wishing and hoping (and students lobbying), the Trustees approved Residence Halls—with room to house up to 10% of our student population (a little more than 600 students). The ground was broken in June 2007. In August 2008, nearly 400 students moved into five brand new lodges. They became the very first students in IU Southeast history to live on campus. They also selected animal mascots for each of the lodges and established new traditions. The second phase of construction will make room for an additional 200+ students.
