Whether you are interested in fine arts, intramural sports, student government, or service activities, there is room for everyone to get involved at Florida College.
Like the Greek word suggests, Alpha Club members are the first. They are the first impression new students have on move-in day, the first to arrive and serve visitors at Lectures, and they are the front line of the student body.APPLE (All Positive People Love Education) Club is a popular choice among students in the elementary education program at Florida College. Members strive to develop leadership capabilities and explore topics of interest in the field of education. Camp Friends are Florida College's student ambassadors at the 22 FC camps in 18 different states. Camp Friends go through an audition process are selected by the office of admissions. They are oriented at a unique Bootcamp during the school year and are then assigned in groups to travel to various camps during the following summer.
The Student Body Government Association (SBGA) is one of the best avenues for student leadership. Members of SBGA are selected by their peers and spearhead several fundraisers and events throughout the year. Most notably, the SBGA plans both the fall and spring banquets. The Florida College Friends is the premier performing group on campus. Every year, a select crew of student musicians and vocalists is selected to perform exciting shows of popular radio hits and bygone favorites. The Friends perform several times on campus throughout the school year, at many local shows, and all over the country on their annual summer tour.
Each summer, students, faculty, staff, and administrators at Florida College have the opportunity to read and discuss a significant work, a "common reading," that can foster meaningful discussions across the campus; it will be discussed formally in classes and a public forum led by faculty members from various disciplines.
The Florida College Society is a community of Florida College's most dedicated friends and supporters. Members qualify by making gifts of at least $1,000 during the fiscal year (June 1–May 31), and membership is renewable annually.Members receive regular newsletters from President H.E. "Buddy" Payne, Jr. and are invited to special events on campus and around the country, most notably The Florida College Society Luncheon and Dedication Ceremony held during lectures week.
Members of The Florida College Society provide foundational financial support that is vital to the college's success. Without generous donations from Society members, Florida College would not be able to survive. There are many opportunities to support Florida College financially.
The Scholarship Partner Fund – Scholarships funded by the Scholarship Partner Fund are awarded to students who have excelled academically, athletically, or in the arts. The James R. Cope Adopt Program – The Adopt Program matches financially challenged students with donors interested in helping them attend Florida College. Donors have a unique opportunity to connect with individual students and make a difference in their lives.
The Senior Legacy Scholarship Fund – Many of our four-year graduates, choose to donate to the Senior Legacy Scholarship Fund to support scholarships for current students also pursuing their bachelor's degrees. Florida College Athletic Association – Athletics is an essential aspect of the Florida College experience. Gifts to the Florida College Athletic Association support our volleyball, soccer, cross-country, and basketball teams.
Donations from Society members also fund special projects and endowments. The renovations to College Hall, the Sturgis-Akin Building, and Wilson Hall were all made possible by generous Society members. The Adam Smelser Endowed Scholarship, the Marty Pickup Endowed Scholarship, and the Griffin and Gretchen Copeland Endowed Scholarship were also partially funded by The Florida College Society.
