Research at Dundee has been ranked among the very best in the UK in the latest Research Excellence Framework (2014). Over 30% of our funding comes from research, which translates into world-changing solutions for health, the environment, and the economy. Our strong STEM performance (science, technology, engineering, and maths) has made us top in Scotland for research in these subjects.
Our scholarships
We want to welcome the best and most creative students to Dundee, but we understand that studying can be quite a financial commitment. That is why we offer a £5,000 Global Excellence Scholarship for qualified bachelors and masters applicants to help you along the way. To be eligible for the Global Excellence Scholarship, you must formally apply to study at the University of Dundee and receive a conditional or unconditional offer. Instructions on applying for the scholarship will follow your academic offer; however, as the awarding criteria are based on qualifications, you may be automatically eligible.
Rewarding Excellence – Scholarships of £5,000
The University of Dundee values excellence, which is why we received a Gold Award – the highest possible rating – in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). We have also been named UK University of the Year for Student Experience.
We are awarding automatic Global Excellence Scholarships of £5,000 per year of study to our most inspiring applicants. Those who are not successful will also be considered for a one year award of £5,000. If you have demonstrated excellence through your academic, extra-curricular, or voluntary activities, we want to reward you for it.
Scholarships are available for qualified offer holders for bachelor's and master's degree programs.

Living in Dundee
Dundee has a high student population and is both a friendly and cost-effective place to live. Set in beautiful countryside on the east coast of Scotland, it is a welcoming university city with plenty to see and do. Our compact city campus, market-leading accommodation, and excellent support mean that our student experience is sector leading. We have ranked Top 10 in the UK for three years for student experience (National Student Survey 2018).
Dundee is also an inspiring place to be. Combining a rich history with modern transformation, the exciting £1billion Waterfront Project, focused around the V&A Museum of Design, is changing the city center's face. In 2014, Dundee was named the UK's first UNESCO City of Design.
