In all World countries, universities are the organizations that will make a mark in the 21st century. Therefore, if we try to understand the 21st century with the notions of the 20th century, we fall into a big mistake. While the 20th century is a century expressed by the concept of "change," the 21st century is a century that should be expressed with the concepts of "Development" and "Transformation." That is why our task is to prepare our universities for Development and Transformation. Our universities have to adopt an appropriate management approach in order to reach this aim. It is essential for our country not to be late.
To realize development and transformation, our universities need to be managed with the principle of 'Innovative, Creative, and Competitive.' Whatever we will teach you and learn from you will form the most powerful side of the Istanbul Gelişim University family. Istanbul Gelişim University has accepted the notion of "a man who does not try to be better cannot stay good, as well" as a fundamental principle in order to fulfill this mission, which is named by itself. In 2008, "Gelişim Education Culture Health and Social Service Foundation" initiated to establish Vocational School named 'İstanbul Gelişim Vocational School and started education life with Vocational School established by the Ministry of National Education and Council of Ministers on 14 June 2008.
Istanbul Gelişim University was established with the step taken to become a "world university" with three faculties, three institutes, 4 Schools, and one vocational school in the 2015-2016 academic year with the law numbered 6114 dated 17 February 2011. The accreditation breakthrough made in the academic year 2017 - 2018 and the 40 Department and 53 Program have been accredited by AQAS (Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Accreditation Programs), one of the leading accreditation institutions in Germany. Istanbul Gelişim University has the title of being the most accredited higher education institution in Turkey.
IGU, advocating that higher education is the essential tool of sustainable development, has about 24K national and international students. There are three faculties, three vocational schools, two vocational schools, 71 licenses, 57 preliminary daytime programs, 38 associate degree night programs, 16 thesis / 15 non-thesis postgraduate programs, and 4 Ph.D. programs. Cooperating with more than 100 world universities, Istanbul Gelişim University is also motivating its undergraduate, associate degree, graduate, and doctoral students to become international. There are also 18 research centers and 67 student clubs that allow students to participate in social, cultural, scientific, and sporting activities outside the classroom. Growing every year by making concrete steps forward to become an arbiter university in the World Istanbul Gelişim University, one of Turkey's most preferred first three universities.
