Seokyeong University came into being as Hankook University at 2-ka, Changchun-dong, Chung-gu, Seoul, on October 22, 1947. The University was the first evening school authorized as a four-year university to provide education to people who wanted to work by day and attend school by night. This would enable people to help rebuild their devastated nation after the liberation from Japanese colonial rule.
With a dedication to cultivating leaders of distinguished characters and capabilities, we strive for "the most future-oriented" University of the 21st Century he most practically-oriented" in our age of IT knowledge and professional expertise. We are making a strenuous effort to foster practical and professional skills, international perspectives alongside the noble characters needed to be possessed by the leaders.
More specifically, students are required to demonstrate computer proficiency as well as English communication skills. By expanding dual-degree and exchange programs with sister universities in the United States, Japan, China, Russia, and Taiwan, the University has been preparing students to meet the demands of an IT-driven and internationalizing world.

It has completed the construction of the art library's state with ten stories above ground and six below, covering 91,022 square meters in size. With a joint effort of all the faculty and staff and approximately 7,000 students, the University has persistently pressed on to achieve its long-term vision of 1013, stretching out to its full length to become one of the nation's best universities in practical education.
