State University of Novi Pazar

The State University of Novi Pazar was founded on October 26, 2006, by the Government of the Republic of Serbia's Resolution, as the first Integrated state university in the Republic of Serbia. Having in mind that the University, according to its founding act, is integrated, the first rector, Prof. dr Cemal Dolicanin, and the Temporary Council chose the department model for the university structure. Integrated structure and department model of University, as well as the responsibility of Management for development of the University, gave visible results. On November 26, 2007, University was accredited for performing the scientific-researching activity in the area of natural-mathematic, technical-technological, medical, social, and mathematical sciences. Besides, the State University of Novi Pazar was the first in the Republic of Serbia to fulfill accreditation conditions for performing the educational activity of all three levels of study and received, on May 9, 2008, the accreditation by the Commission for Accreditation and Quality Control.

Today, the State University of Novi Pazar is a re-accredited higher education institution that enables acquiring diplomas of bachelor, master's, and doctoral studies. In the name of quality, as our thorough determination, University develops intensive cooperation with all state universities in the Republic of Serbia, as well as many foreign universities from other countries, such as France, Austria, Italy, England, Hungary, Turkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Slovakia. Thus, it acquires the possibility of cooperation on projects and the mobility of students and professors.

Appreciating the fact that the development of contemporary society has changed students' needs in the area of educational content and educational methods as well, from the very beginning, we chose a higher inter-disciplinary approach in performing contemporary educational methods. Having in mind that the time of strict division in education and science, even division on scientific fields, is past, the State University of Novi Pazar's staff pay attention to social and other phenomena attractive to many academic profiles. In these study programs, students are given a whole complete curriculum of each course. Many professors of different specialties provide the most recent and exciting segments from their scientific area. In performing the educational process on these study programs, many eminent professors from different state universities in the Republic of Serbia and other European countries are involved, making our integrated university step into the European educational area.

Approaching the development of the most current study programs and methods, which is the thorough determination of the State University of Novi Pazar, students are provided with flexible and open forms of learning, such as seminars, mentors' work, and panel discussions, workshops, circular sessions, and debates. One of the State University of Novi Pazar's fundamental tasks is creating a quality raising generation of our own that shows the talent for educational and scientific-researching work while on bachelor studies. Thus, by choosing the best students for associates and assistants, the State University of Novi Pazar provides certain quality personnel, which paves its way towards a society of the most prominent universities in the world.

The mission of the University of Novi Pazar lies in the answer to why do we need a regional university center, which concerns itself with the development of its region, the raising of the system of values, and its sustainability over a more extended period. The internal mission of the University of Novi Pazar is:

• The creation of modern and dynamic study programs completely adapted to world standards and the requirements of society,
• The educating of professional experts of a new generation and the effort to make quality higher education available to all those who wish it,
• Continuous investment in further professional training, the advancement of knowledge and education of professors and teaching associates,
• The designing of a broad specter of possibilities for acquiring knowledge, the developing of skills and learning new positions through primary, diploma, and doctoral academic studies,
• The cultivating of the positive attitude of students toward learning and modern forms of acquiring knowledge through the department model of teaching,
• The awarding of the best students' work and efforts and most deserving professors for the advancement of scientific, professional, and ethical thought.

The vision of the University of Novi Pazar concerns what kind of institution of higher education is envisaged for the future. The basic guidelines in the vision contain, in themselves, the following:

• The University in Novi Pazar envisions that it will become an eminent institution of higher education of regional, national and international importance, with clear goals for developing future professions and the continuous inclusion of its members in the solving of current issues of social life in the region and the state,
• The University of Novi Pazar aims to provide dynamic leadership, support, and efforts for all of its members, to modernize teaching and timely adjustment to all the demands of the modern market of knowledge.

The University of Novi Pazar aims to become an important center of scientific thought in various fields by creating modern and high-quality study programs of further education at the master's and doctoral studies levels and inclusion in Serbian work and foreign experts. The University of Novi Pazar, as a specific education subsystem, is an autonomous and functional unit of the education system of Serbia. Within Serbia's overall system of higher education, the University of Novi Pazar is qualified for efficient and timely communication. For coordination of integrative processes of cooperation between institutions and society on the one hand, and professors and students on the other. The advancement and professionalization of scientific and teaching activities, the creation of scientific and professional teams, establishing a network of experts, and scientific research are the essential components of the systemic approach to higher education at the University of Novi Pazar.
