FEFU is the bearer of traditions of the Russian classical culture, science, and education. Far Eastern Federal University has its origins in 1899, at the time when the Oriental Institute was founded in Vladivostok. Today FEFU is the only classical University in Eastern Russia. It incorporates Schools with generations-old traditions and areas of research that form the core of our intellectual base.
One of the FEFU's advantages is its geographic location in the center of the Asia Pacific region, which is now one of the most dynamically developing parts of the world. This place is the second pole of world civilization, including the leading counties globally, such as China, the United States, Japan, India, and many world-famed metropolitan cities, such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney, and Seoul. Being a link or a cultural bridge between Russia and this part of the world remains one of the FEFU's main objectives. FEFU is the first University in Russia to launch Master's degree programs in English in collaboration with world-renowned universities. The universities combined to establish FEFU have a history of scholarship dating back more than 110 years. All of them are well known across Russia and worldwide. Far Eastern State University diplomas are acknowledged throughout the world. The University's law graduates are currently working in the US, China, and other countries, both in multinational companies and in the government. Being situated on the edges of both Europe and Asia allows us to observe and follow the most important trends, research, and development projects in spheres of great global importance. Our projects in oceanography, underwater robotic engineering, and eco-friendly architecture, among others, have gained international recognition.
FEFU is at the center of international education in the Russian Far East and is actively integrating into global higher education and information environments. Our University has developed partnership projects and academic exchange programs with approximately 100 universities, earning it high recognition abroad. Networked countries include the USA, Japan, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Taiwan, Great Britain, France, Australia, Thailand, India, and Vietnam. The University of Queensland, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Maryland are among our partners sharing their expertise to develop our educational programs.
At FEFU, we believe that the knowledge you receive at the University should be applicable elsewhere. So, in addition to our university faculty, we host honored professors from the Russian Academy of Sciences and professors from all over the world. Lecturers from different fields share their experiences and recommendations to widen students' global perspectives. FEFU understands it's hard to get started in a new country, and we give you all support you need to settle in and find new friends. We can meet you at the airport, arrange comprehensive orientation programs, and help you make discoveries in Vladivostok and the surrounding region. With us, the only problem you'll have is an abundance of choices: whether it's taking part in a discussion club or going bicycling around the island in your leisure time. At FEFU, you can do the things you love and discover new interests as well. You'll never have trouble finding ways to get involved, but you may have trouble narrowing down your list.
