    Aurel Vlaicu University has developed new study programs year after year by establishing new faculties that meet the highest quality standards. For instance, the 2010/2011 academic year marks the Faculty of Design and the following study programs: Psychology, Computer Sciences, Economics, Marketing, Fashion, and Fashion Design. Presently, the dynamics of study programs demand, combined with our institutional capabilities, lead to 32 Bachelor study programs, 23 Master study programs, and a Ph.D. study program in Orthodox Theology.

    The Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad is a distinct academic community functioning under the Romanian Constitution's provisions and the educational system's laws and regulations. UAV abides by and promotes European conventions regarding higher education. The University benefits from a highly trained academic staff and high-quality facilities dedicated to didactic and scientific activities. Since 1999, each academic curriculum across the University is in accord with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The setup of the academic year and every Diploma issued may be recognized all over the EU. Through Erasmus+ programs, students can attend for up to two semesters in total, courses with another Erasmus+ partner university. The University guarantees full academic recognition for all Erasmus+ students that partake in the mobility program.

    The Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad is highly involved in scientific research, development, and innovation. This fact represents a strategic priority for our University through which the foundation of a quality higher education is laid one that benefits from efficient, dynamic, and flexible management, adding institutional value in the context of national and international exposure. Scientific research is paramount for development; hence, we believe that all responsible higher education institutions must focus on it.

    Under the general guidelines of the 2015-2020 Research, Development and Innovation Plan III, in addition to the National Research Strategy for 2014-2020, AVU's mission regarding scientific research could be summarized by:

    Mission, statement, and objectives of AVU:

    • Developing highly relevant interdisciplinary, fundamental, and applied scientific research
    • Involving the University's staff in research: teaching staff, Ph.D., MA, and undergraduate students alike
    • Promoting research-development-innovation centers at university and faculty levels alike in order to: centralize efforts in obtaining valuable research results, highlighting the institutional ability to cooperate with the scientific and socio-economic environment, the development of a functional partnership with national and international research institutes.
      • AVU's mission is to generate and transfer knowledge towards society in those academic study areas for which it has been authorized/accredited
      • Its mission to generate knowledge is accomplished through scientific research, development, innovation, technological transfer, artistic creation, and sporting performance and capitalizing on and disseminating findings related to these specific activities.
      • Knowledge transfer is achieved through an initial formative stage, further developed at a graduate and postgraduate level. Through the academic programs on offer (be they MA, Ph.D., etc.), its lifelong learning programs, research, didactic staff training, etc., AVU actively participates in the lifelong educational process and the professional reconversion of the workforce. Knowledge transfer is achieved in the spirit of democratic values and human personality development.
      • The development of professional competences is achieved in the following areas: Vehicle Engineering, System Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Management and Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Food Engineering, Rural, and Agricultural Development, Language and Literature, Administrative Sciences, Communication Sciences, Theology, Business Administration, Finances, Management, marketing, IT, Mathematics, Social Assistance, Psychology, Educational Sciences, Physical Education and Sport, Visual Arts, Sociology and associated educational domains.
      • AVU assumes its "engine for regional development" fundamental role and acknowledges its significant cultural and civic function within the community it belongs to.
      • Organizing and conducting development, improvement, and continuous formation postgraduate programs, the professional reconversion of specialists with a university education to develop and form new competencies, capabilities, and personal career development plans.
