No student shall be denied admission to the University System because of age, sex, nationality, religious belief, or political affiliation. Every applicant for admission shall undergo a thorough health examination. No person shall be admitted to this University if he is found by the University Health Service to be suffering from a dangerous, communicable or infectious disease or is physically unfit to take courses in any college of the University. Every student shall, upon admission, sign the following pledge: "In consideration of my admission to the University of the Philippines in Mindanao and of the privileges of a student in this institution, I at this moment promise and pledge to abide by and comply with all the rules and regulations laid down by competent authority in the University and in the college or school in which I am enrolled." Refusal to take this pledge or violation of its terms shall be sufficient cause for summary dismissal, or denial of admission.No person who has not duly matriculated may be admitted to the classes. In exceptional cases, the University Registrar may, on the Dean's recommendation, authorize the admission of a visitor to a class for not more than five sessions.

The BS Architecture program trains students to be professional architects. With a high sense of social and cultural awareness, that is the result of five years of study in construction and building technology, architectural history and critical theory, and urban and regional planning.BS Architecture graduates now work as professional design architects, heritage planners/conservators, museum curators, architectural critics, architectural photographers, renderers, AutoCAD specialists, cartographers, building development scientists, corporate consultants, environmental planners, and real estate project managers.
The BA Communication Arts program trains students to be practical and savvy communication and media specialists who can critically, creatively, and imaginatively use their skills in the incisive analysis of social and cultural realities.BA Communication Arts graduates are employed as corporate communication executives, media production staff, public relations officers, business process outsourcing specialists, theater artists, video production staff, advertising executives, web designers, teachers, communications and market researchers, speechwriters, and print and broadcast journalists.
The BA English program trains students to become critical and creative thinkers who are skilled not just in the production of creative works but also in the English language practice in the global setting. BA English graduates now work as lawyers, business process outsourcing specialists, medical transcribers, information officers, public relations writers, copywriters, teachers, scriptwriters, technical writers, journalists, marketing communication specialists, and authors or editors of books and magazines.

Managerial problems, especially those faced by decision-makers at the highest administration levels, have become less structured than they were in the past. Increasingly, managers have to deal with more sophisticated technologies, more rapidly expanding and contracting markets. In adapting to these changes, organizations have become flatter, smaller, and more flexible in structure, more integrative in decision-making, and more global in operation. Given the dynamism of our present work environment, it becomes imperative for organizational leaders to develop the capability to assess a broad spectrum of interrelated issues and interpret a continuous stream of data vital to decision-making. Decision-makers ought to be humanistic because people are the carriers of today's most important resources (knowledge and information), and holistic because managerial problems and issues are interrelated.
The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) is a service unit that complements the University's instructional program. It addresses itself to significant concerns, namely: Development, Assistance, and Control. The development consists of specific services which help students develop a well-balanced personality. By providing them with extra-curricular activities, the University helps develop students' abilities, skills, and potentials, which may not be directly responded to in the classroom. Efforts toward this include making the opportunities available to students to participate in civic, political, athletic, social, and cultural activities. Assistance consists of specific services provided to help students adjust to the challenges of university life. To ensure that opportunities for adjustment are brought within their reach, services in the form of counseling, testing, health, student housing, psychosocial sessions, financial assistance, and scholarship are made available.
Control is one central area of concern that is viewed positively as normative and formative, as well as one concerned with efforts to create the right order of things. It includes supervision on discipline to ensure that responsible behavior is instilled in students' hearts and minds, and the attitude of respect for individuals' rights is developed. The overall effect should be an atmosphere conducive to learning. The OSA is a communication channel that communicates and interprets students' needs to the university officials. It is also expected to communicate and interpret the wishes of the University to the student.
